You are looking at a 1978 Ford Thunderbird I purchased in 2000 from the original owner's estate. I installed a new vinyl roof, had the car painted and converted it to R-134 air. In 2001 I gave this to a young lady in high school and, the first time she drove it, it quit and left her stranded. The second time her dad drove it, it did the same. In 2002, I went completely through the car and found the distributor to be cracked. When the car heated up, it quit. I replaced the distributor. My son started driving the car, installed an Edelbrock manifold and carburetor then parked the car for 10 years. In May of this year, I installed a new battery, fuel pump, oil and filter, flushed the engine, oiled the cylinders, replaced a couple of hoses and started the vehicle.. Unfortunately, the transmission would not come out of park and would not engage. The photos are from two years ago and are accurate except the windshield is now smashed. There is no body damage and the only body rust is under the trim on the drivers door. The bumpers are undamaged but pitted and rusty. Tires hold air but are severely weather checked. The battery was removed (and used elsewhere), the Edelbrock carburetor was removed and stored in the original box but the intake manifold is still on the engine. The original manifold and carburetor are stored and in excellent shape. This is not a "junker" but we want to get it off the property and it's listed at "NO RESERVE". It should be an easy restoration and I suspect, the transmission is fine but needs linkage adjustments. This has a clean South Carolina title.
