Vehicle Detail
1992 GMC safari cargo van. Sister vehicle to the chevy astro van. Purchased used in 2006. Odemeter says 484,000 miles. The miles could be actual. Vehicle runs smooth, drives straight. My mechanic says it will need Front brakes in about 7000 miles. But there was new Calipers replaced in 2011. A couple of years ago i had the A/C worked on with new compressor, orifice tube and A/C dryer. ($550) but now the A/C is not working again. Problem might now be the condenser but the A/C was blowing ice cold!!! The van has rust along the rocker panels the length of the vehicle and both sides. There is rust in various places also....fenders, doors ect. I tryed to show rust in pictures. Interior has wear, which it should for a van 20 years old. I have a seat cover on both seats. There is some cracks in the seats and using a seat cover is best. All said, the van is being driven daily and is a great work van. It has the 4.3 liter 6 cylinder, so it gets 20 mpg. Items ive changed are Radiator, starter, battery, tires are about 50-60%, egr and oxygen sensors so no "check engine light" heater core and control valve, front brake calipers,(2011), It has new plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. I had the rear end differencial replaced with a used one with 110,000 miles onlit. I had the transmission replaced in 2011 at a shop that sold me a rebuilt unit with approx 30,000miles. It had been in the owners personal truck. Ive put about 20,000 miles on it, so it now has appox 50,000 on it. Van is sold as is and no shipping available. On Nov-16-12 at 08:06:36 PST, seller added the following information: Also, the van does not do bad on burning oil. About 1/2 quart every 2000 miles. There is only sometimes a light puff of smoke when starting the engine. Ive been told even these vans with only 100,000 miles will do this. There is a small chip in the window glass that happened 3 years ago and has not split.
