Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1966 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible. I have owned this car for about 2 years now and it has always served me well. I will be sad to see it go but I am in a position where I need to move it to a new owner. I really wish I didn't have to get rid of this car but things happen. My wife has personally driven this car as her summer transportation for most of the past two summers. This car rides like a dream. I have taken this car to Louisville (about 100 miles round trip) a few times, to include attending Beatersville (where the weather outside was about 2 degrees cooler then Hell itself). The car has run perfectly every time. DRIVETRAIN: This car has power brakes that will just about stand the car on the front bumper if needed. For such a large car it stops like something built today. Tires are very good with excellent tread all the way around. Unless you have had the pleasure of piloting a land yacht like this you can't explain how well a car like this rides. It sort of floats along but when you tell it to change course, it does it without complaint. Cars today just can't duplicate this feeling. ENGINE/TRANSMISSION: These cars were built with 389's and 421's. I don't know exactly which one this is since they look the same from the outside so I'm going with a 389. It really gets up and goes though, for a large car it is really quick. It has a 4 barrel carb from the factory with a good, working choke. The voltage regulator and alternator have both recently been replaced. Automatic transmission shifts well without any slippage. BODY/TOP: Car was freshly painted when I got it. The very beautiful yellow paint continues under the hood and trunk in a very professional way. I have not seen any signs of rust coming through so I would say any repairs have been done well. The drivers door is a little out of adjustment (opens and closes just fine but I'm kinda picky) and the drivers window will need to be adjusted as well. Passenger side is very good. Top appears to be new although the date of manufact is a few years old. The top has a zip out rear window which lets air through as if the top were down but keeps the sun out when it's to hot out. Top opens and closes fine manually, but the power top is not working. It appears to all be there but I have never looked into it since the top is down 99% of the time. Rear panel has been blacked out and gives a very cool look with the inclosed taillights. INTERIOR: Car has an aftermarket AM/FM/ CD radio that does not appear to be working at the moment. All factory gauges, headlights, brake lights and turn signals work, dash lights work intermittently. Interior is one of the cars coolest features, done in black with yellow seat inserts and yellow "racing stripes" down the center of the dash, armrest, back seat and parade top. The parade top is very nice, two snaps need to be replaced but the top itself has no damage. Carpet is new and OEM style. There are lap belts for two people in front and two more in the rear. WHAT DOES IT NEED: Well, if your me, it doesn't need a thing, it's perfect as is. As far as a cool weekend cruiser you could enjoy it as is forever. However, if you really want to have a stand out car, in addition to the items listed above, the chrome on the bumpers should be redone. Front vent windows open and close but don't roll out. The front hood trim is missing as is the lettering on the rear panel. I probably would figure out the radio too, I know the power wire has no power so it is probably an easy fix. Personnally, some 20" rims would be nice too, but what do I know. IN CLOSING: This car has served my family well. I can say with complete confidence, whoever wins this car will be pleased with the purchase. I welcome anyone to come look, and drive this car. It is so hard to try and express how great a car this is. Not a high dollar show car, not some beater but a very nice driver you can take to cruise night, or go out for ice cream with the kids, or just drive and enjoy. You will be able to take this car anywhere and feel good about what you are driving. I really wish I were in a position to keep this car, with some minor attention this car will really be awsome. On Nov-06-12 at 04:50:20 PST, seller added the following information: Update, this car is actually a 1965. The title shows it as a 1965 but I made an error in the listing. Now that the listing is active I cannot alter the heading.
