1970 Triumph Bonneville

Up for auction a really nice 1970 Bonneville Chopper. I am listing this for a buddy as he has not had much luck selling it locally. This bike is currently licensed, inspected and being ridden in upstate NY. As the story goes, my buddy traded a '76 Corvette for this to a guy from Craiglist. The guy had been trying to sell for $7500 and the price had been dropped a couple of times when my buddy traded for it. On his first ride, the right side spark plug blew out with the helicoil that had been installed and re-installed several times. We were able to find another head but also made a bushing to repair the head that was on it. The new head and gaskets will be included. Once the spark plug was repaired we found out there was a problem with the ignition advance mechanism as well because the bike wouldn't run over 45 miles per hour. Come to find out this bike was pretty notorious in the area and had been passed around from Chopper-Head to Chopper-Head with no one really telling the whole story. That is the purpose of this long description. The ignition advance was fixed and the bike currently runs like a 650 Triumph should. As of right now, the bike is as close to 100% as a can be expected but my buddy needs to sell to fund a new project (750cc Honda Trike), plus the whole deal has kind of left a sour taste in his mouth. Not looking to get rich or even get the initial price of what he traded. This is however a nice looking and riding bike, Metal flake Purple and with Silver scallops, springer front with 16" Invader wheels. My buddy has made several changes to this bike from what he initially got. Not shown are low fish-tail exhaust tips that were dropped from high ones. I believe he also has a sissy bar that was removed as well. I would imagine these parts would be included if we get the reserve price. For sale locally as well so I reserve the right to end the listing early. We will not ship but am willing to help get to a shipping facility of your choice. Can probably help crate as well.
