“MAGNIFICENT / RESTORED” *ORIGINAL CARDINAL RED* ACTUAL 76XXX MILE - 2 OWNER 1972 PONTIAC LEMANS SPORT CONVERTIBLE MUSCLE CAR! A Pontiac for all season! Over $15k invested in restoring it {Receipts included}! *This car is titled as a 1972 model however all of the docs & codes reads 71 {late model production}*. DOCUMENTED LADY OWNED VECHICLE! Every now and then it seems that I stumble upon a classic muscle car that happens to be exactly what I’m looking for. As fate would have it this beautiful Poncho caught me off guard {At the right time}. At least that was the case when a friend of mine told me about a sweet muscle car that I just had to see! Let me 1st say what made me buy this vintage Pontiac was not only what it was…..it was also what it wasn’t. “A GORGEOUS MUSCLE CAR THAT COULD BE DRIVEN DAILY”! I have been collecting classic cars through the years. If you are even a fraction of the car nut that I am I’m sure that you’ve had big dollar classic cars that you are sometimes scared to drive. Although blue chip investment muscle cars are fun most seem to be garage toys that are seldom used! I had wanted a classic car for quite sometime that could play a different role rather easily. Although I believe this stunning Pontiac could certainly hold its own at any car show the beauty of this one is in its ability to be used as a daily driver! This factory {R-Code} Cardinal Red Pontiac looks like a million bucks rolling down the freeway! It however, it is not a $40k classic vehicle. To start this particular Lemans Sport is a two owner car. It has an unparallel history with a great deal of documentation! The original owners were a couple who purchased the car new from “Admiral Pontiac” located in Glen Burnie Maryland. The 2nd owner stated that when she bought the car this couple still had both cars that they purchased new! She also stated that her & her husband had been looking for a GTO for a while. However after looking at several cars over a year or so they couldn’t really agree on one that they loved mutually. The husband eventually bought a Mustang {as her search continued}. This L.S.C was listed in a Hemmings publication. The Lemans Sport Convertible fell dead square in the same arena as the GTO but, seemed to be a bit more user friendly in regards to cost & practicality. After the dust settled they traveled east & she brought this beauty home! She fell in love with this factory Red Lemans Sport rag top immediately! Original exterior color was a biggie for her however; the car did have a white parchment when it rolled off of the assembly line. She had the entire interior replaced & changed to black when the car was restored in 2006 {I think a much better choice} more about that later! The car came nicely equipped with a power top, power steering, & power disc brakes. She said that the car really served her well through the years. However with a new hobby that mainly involved traveling the car began to become a garage ornament {lack of use}. She stated that there was a desire to start enjoying the car again early in 2006. She acted upon this decision & started to fully restore the car in mid 2006. This much cherished Lemans Sport was completely stripped & gone over thoroughly. I can’t begin to express just how much money & time that she spent on trying to make this car a top notch vehicle again! I believe that I have at least $14k in receipts & that may not be all of them. It is more than evident that a great effort was taken to make this car a super nice vehicle. There are several photos showing the detailed process that the car went through to get it to the state that it is in today. As previously stated the cars body was stripped and subsequently painted in 2006. The finish product looks nice now however I am sure that it looked a bit better then. The paint shines brilliantly in the sun & really seems to have a better than average exterior to everyone that comes across it. That being said upon close inspection you will find a couple of imperfections here & there {nothing major}. Under florescent lights you can also see some orange peel in places “Although the car still looks incredible”! It had new quarters installed at the time the body was stripped. The quarters were sectioned and not completely removed before the new ones were installed. It also seems that a trunk pan & rear floors were installed. I am no body man but the work that was completed looks great to me {If factory GM weld marks are a major concern of yours please come & check it out. I am sure that you will leave happy}. At any rate this vintage vehicle is certainly beautiful! You will never pull up anywhere without hearing “A man that’s a sharp ride” or “Wow nice car”! People are always pointing as you drive along! If you are looking to enjoy a classic muscle car with the top down on days when the mercury climbs above 50 degrees than this is your vehicle! It serves the same role as the big dollar muscle cars on the block & looks just as good while doing so “at a fraction of the cost”. Be prepared for more than a fair share of people waving and giving you the ole thumbs up! Back to the car: When you think of a 60’s era muscle cars interior you tend to think of class. That is exactly what you will find when you open the doors of this one. I can’t think of anyone who has not seen this vehicles interior in person who has not been extremely impressed! Every single stitch of upholstery from front to rear has been either replaced or restored. The car has new premium seat covers and seat buns {done right foam replaced as well}. The seats not only look awesome they feel great! The seat backs are in great shape too. Complimenting the seats are a wonderful set of high quality door panels! The door panels still look new {including its hardware}. The weather stripping was replaced around the doors & windows as well. The carpet was replaced and so were the kick panels {still looks new}. Upon further inspection you will also find that this one has a show quality front dash pad! The cars complete interior is just about picture perfect! You can hold your head high with the top down or up! The black power canvas top looks very nice. It operates properly and lowering it is a breeze! A complimentary black canvas convertible boot cover is tucked away in back to protect the top when lowered and to enhance its appearance. There’s no damage at all on any of the factory glass {no excessive scratches…clear as day}! There are plenty of highs and very few lows that one will find regarding this car. Its beauty & reliability should never be in question! Since we are on the subject of reliability I would like to speak about what truly makes this muscle car special to me! This particular Pontiac is one of the best running muscle cars that I have ever owned! I always anticipate days when the weather is nice so I can take it out for a cruise. I can tell you that the motor tucked away under the hood is very responsive. Upon releasing the hood pins and cracking the lid you will find an amazingly stout Pontiac 400 small block! This Lemans Sport convertible came from the factory with a 350 engine. The cars original block was scrapped. The 2nd owner stated that they ran across a muscle car enthusiast who had a completely rebuilt Pontiac 400 block that was ready to roll. The motor that he rebuilt and been beefed up a bit & slightly geared towards high performance. After having a different mechanic check the motor out they were given the green light to purchase it. After this motor was installed she said that there was quite a difference in the cars overall performance. Even though both parties told that it would be a H.P. increase she didn’t expect it to be night & day. She was not so happy with the new found extra added H.P. {Her husband was a bit more enthused}. It seems from that time to 2006 she only managed to put about one thousand miles on the car. With the big drop in usage she decided that the time to sell had come. Even though this Pontiac doesn’t have a big block there’s no doubt the cars power spooked her a bit. I can assure you that this muscle car has plenty of horse power & more than ample torque! I currently also own a 1967 Camaro with a 396 that seems a bit more tame than this Rally Red racer! I am a middle aged gentleman who is far removed from track shoot outs but, the car is a blast to drive & push stop light to stop light! I think that this car provides a happy medium for the individual who wants to drive a muscle car daily & smoke the tires at will. The car can be quite mean if provoked but it’s still well mannered enough for everyday driving. People absolutely LOVE to see this car coming! Not only is a nice muscle car it is very different from the standard Mustangs, Camaros & Corvettes that are so easy to distinguish. They love to hear the car also. It has a nice set of Turbo mufflers installed with a chambered dual exhaust system! I recently replaced the plugs, wires, thermostat, radiator, alternator, etc. Dependability is guaranteed whenever you decide to go cruising in this classic convertible! The car always fires right up with little to no effort and never gives you a problem while commuting. This wonderful Lemans Sport also has a completely rebuilt transmission. The car goes through each gear with ease and doesn’t even seem to hit its stride at 60 mph! The engine bay is very presentable and the car leaks no fluids. All & all I am sure that the new potential owner will be more than happy with this muscle cars performance! Helping to put all of that tire shredding power to the pavement is a set of fully restored Pontiac Rally II mag wheels with spank brand new raised white letter BFG radials! This set looks great on the car! The mags are matted with brand new beauty rings and new lug nuts. The car also handles quite well. Thanks in part to a set of new shocks installed up front & in the rear! There’s a super nice modern Pioneer radio couched in the dash that makes long trip wonderful too boot! I think the point that really needs to be made here is that there’s plenty of fun on tap with this Pontiac! You can cruise to the car show proudly. You & your pocket book will also be smiling when you’re parked next to the guy with the $40k muscle car. You will be enjoying yourself at a fraction of the cost! I would also like to mention that this Pontiac has an excellent frame & a great foundation. The car is very solid! The rear floors were replaced during the time that restoration was done but the front floor are original. The car has a super solid trunk with a full spare wrapped in new rubber! Even though the 2nd owner was truly saddened when I loaded the vehicle up & didn’t even stay outside when I pulled away with her! You will be incredibly happy provided you win it! There’s a litany of receipts and good documentation that is included with the sale of this car. NO EXPENSE SPARRED! I am listing this car with a reasonable reserve & have a price in mind that I would take to sell it out right. I have absolutely no time to play games! This is not a fire sale. No need to ask what the reserve is. Let’s talk if you’re serious or Bid to win! I am willing to work with the seriously interested buyer to help get this beauty into your garage early if an agreement can be reached. If you have zero feedback of two or more negative feedback please contact me prior to bidding or your bid may be canceled. There is a non refundable $500 deposit due at the end of the auction or if a purchase price is agreed upon. Yet more questions ….
