Vehicle Detail

1971 Jaguar XKE E-Type that is a great looking daily driver. I live in Hollywood, and get thumbs up from and big smiles all the time! I've been told that the car used to be owned by a Hollywood studio, and was used in numerous TV shows and movies. I'm a big Columbo fan, and there is an episode from 1972 that takes place at the Hollywood Bowl (just down the street from me) in which an E-Type plays a major role, and I like to think that maybe it was this one, though there's no way to tell. I've included a picture from the Columbo show just to show the one used there. At some point, it was converted to a Chevy V8, and eventually was released by the studio with a salvage title. It looks like during its life it has had some bumps here and there, and it looks like repairs were made at the rear and front bumper areas. When I got it two years ago, the original V8 had lost its oil filter and failed. I replaced the engine with a rebuilt one, which runs great, and with the V8, the Jaguar is quite fast, and, in my opinion, handles great. There is a short video of the car on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pujvcB-6fc The car is in decent shape, but it is far from perfect. The interior is decent, but still needs some work, especially the dash and the door panels need to be finished up. The electrical part of the ignition switch is separated from the lock part (i.e. the part that locks the steering wheels). There are various rattles from some items, like the board that covers the spare in back. Also, the paint job is decent, but far from perfect. Its not a show car by any means, but its good looking and fun to drive. Please come by and look at the car in person if you are interested. It is being offered locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. There is a modest reserve price of $7500, and the car is sold as-is. Please contact me with any questions.
