The S2 SE Lotus Elan represents the best and purest of the breed. Fortunately, the car does not have the ever present window frames of the later S3 and S4 Drop Head Coupes. Those window frames ruined the sleek unencumbered lines of the earlier Elans. Additionally, the S1's and S2's were also the lightest examples, the S2 SE (Special Equipment) being the rarest and most desirable. Also, fortunately, the car is unfettered by the additional weight added by the need to follow later DOT and EPA regulations. The S2's also have the much desired Weber carbs which were also eliminated on later cars due to federal regulations. This beautiful example has been further enhanced with splined rear axles, 138 HP engine, improved cooling system with electric fan, Hawker battery with kill switch in trunk, 3 point Willans shoulder/seat belts, alternator, electronic ignition, rev limiter, new Koni shocks, new windshield, new Prestige Autowood dashboard, new cassette type water pump, Italian air horns, Talbot Berlin side mirrors, rear shock tower brace, Moto-Lita wood rim steering wheel (original steering wheel included), and Panasport 5" x 13" alloy wheels with new Michilin XAS 155HR13 tires ( good set of original wheels with good Michilin tires included). Everything works properly, and is appropriately detailed. Paint is excellent on the body, engine and engine compartment, trunk, dash grille, windshield frame, and the parts for the top (cross pieces are chrome plated). Much of the suspension is detailed. Top is excellent. Included are a complete original tool roll, jack and ratchet, knock off hammer, tonneau cover, owners manual and service booklet. The overall completeness and condition of this little white beauty earned it a second place at a recent 600 car show, with over 40 cars in its class.
