Vehicle Detail

Selling a 2000 VW Jetta GLX. It has the 2.8 liter VR6 motor, with 5 speed manual transmission. Galactic blue exterior with black leather and woodgrain interior. 96k miles. The good: The car recently (less than a year ago) got the timing chains replaced, as well as timing gears, guides, water pump, as well as some misc seals and gaskets. Brakes on all 4 corners were done at the same time, as well as oil change. Both front lower control arms and 1 axle were replaced, because the original bushings wore out. Transmission mount and rear dogbone mount were replaced. Before that, the car had a new clutch installed, as well as new coil pack and mass air meter. Leather interior is in overall good shape. Transmission shifts perfect. I have over $3k in receipts for the work that was done within the past year. The bad: I am told the car is pushing coolant through the head gasket, out the exhaust. The car didn't overheat, but stumbles when it runs. I believe this motor needs the head gasket replaced. The speedometer stopped working about 3 or 4 months ago, but it was driven very less (less than 1000 miles) since that. I am unsure if it is the sensor, or something in the transmission or the gauge cluster. Check engine light would pop up every so often and sometimes go away by itself, and the code was for speed sensor signal low. It failed inspection because of this. Interior mirror needs to be glued back on the windshield glass. Passenger side front window motor broke (cable wore out). I have a brand new one in the package, but not installed yet. Passenger side door panel is off because of that. Car has a rebuilt title, due to something that happened back in 2005 or 2006, from a previous owner. The car drove straight as an arrow. Driver's side fender and outside mirror look to have been replaced. We bought this car sometime last year, did maintenance on it, and drove it mainly last winter, into this this year. After that, it was just an extra car. This summer when I let a friend borrow the car, and he broke it. To get the car to run, I believe you need to do a head gasket and you'll be good to go. Everything else is minor. Car cranks, but doesn't start right now. The car has an intake on it from the previous owner. I do not have the factory airbox, but this thing seems to work. The car has black housing projector headlights, as the original ones were all faded. It has the optional VW Monte Carlo 17" wheels with good tires. It also has the factory Audi TT short shifter. I got a quote for a head gasket job, and it's in the $550 range. If you are mechanically inclined, you may be able to fix this yourself and save. If you have a VW VR6 motor laying around, even better. I already bought a new car, and have no interest in fixing this one. Not having good luck with VW's, as my sister broke the one she drives as well (at around the same time), which will be sold in another auction later on. I can help in arranging shipping if you are not local. Shipping is to be paid by buyer, but I can get good rates. If you have any quyestions, shoot me a message. Thanks for looking.
