Vehicle Detail
*THIS CAR NEEDS NOTHING* I purchased this from the thirty year owner. At some point he decided to beef it's performance and custom look. Custom means just that, "no longer original totally". It has four wheel disc brakes, upgrade torsion/sway bars, adjustable front beam, long list of Gene Berg engine parts(performance; 2007cc; approximately 120HP; original HP was 50), Ultra IRS trans (close ratio)/Empi shifter, chromed out engine, Honda CRX front seats, new top parts/headliner/cables/canvas boot which fits nicely, glass rear top window, etc., carpeting, sound system(amp, CD changer, etc. are in trunk), gauges added, electric fuel pump, two speakers front & two rear under back shelf where back seat used to be, and so on. Many of the old parts (heater boxes, engine surrounds, original seats, steering wheel, etc. can be included, but is buyers shipping responsibility). Does come with jack. Car used to be blue (again, this is custom remake; now porsche red which you've figured out by now). You are buying a VW with muscles, but still street smooth, not too loud, hardly any "CAM" rock (sort of Porsche beefiness; sounds and handles like a Porsche). Body and paint is just shy of perfect. Better than "driver" quality and looks good close up. Floor pans are super solid but did have old timer patching way back 20+ years ago when the elaborate pan replacement parts were not available. Rockers and quarters rock. There is a whole file full of receipts of what was ordered and done. Some technical books come with it as well as an original owner's manual w/VW vinyle cover in the glove box. I do have the side trim pieces, Volkswagon emblem, and the VW nose circular emblem in the old parts. Owner left these off opting for leaving the Karmann signiture and side Karmann crests/emblems as part of the "custom" alterations. NEW tires on the back, and very low miles on the front tires. A new master cylinder fill resercior installed 9/24/12. Door glass is excellent and roll perfect. Doors have hard to find chrome top ledge trim (and extras in parts). The doors close firmly, no drops, clean flush fit/lines. No bondo on doors or most of the car (if any). Upgrade mirrors. Windshield nice(new seal). Owner said he did have the car apart and off the frame years ago. He said the engine compression was engineered to enable use of pump gas. Also, engine has a deep sump oil pan pick up as well as a screw on oil filter adapter. Nice header sound, strong disc braking, tight front handling, etcetera! Rear CV's were done at some time, of course. Car has originally 148,000+(since most everything is replaced post 1973; really most is have 20k on newest parts). This is definite for the engine and most of the upgrades/performance mechanicals have about 20,000. I have pictures of all three vehicle ID number locations and they all check/match the Florida title(older title since owner had it so long). This is a low price for a retro-mod classic, still carrying the Ghia style, new parts galore, and steroid across the board performance, sound, looks! THIS CAR HAS SO MANY UPGRADES EVEN THE OWNER COULDN'T REMEMBER THEM ALL. Howard 904-881-3495. Deposit is non-refundable. As is sale. I do have a set of bumpers/mounts off this car. They need some dings taken out and rechrome or may clean up. Also, the original seats that are in "bad" shape. The spings/frame can be re-used: these are costly parts to buy; and rear trunk lid original license plate light/lift screw on piece. I have a lot of parts from other VW's. I recommend Bear's Transport Company for your transport needs. Bonded, insured and usually fast to your door. 866-858-8066; 847-810-7641, Liz or Frank. I will deliver free; up to two hours from Jacksonville, FL.(thats about to Merritt Island going south or Fernindina going north). See other VW items/parts for sale (click "seller's other items for sale" to the right on this listing if you are not familiar w/Ebay). If I put a YouTube video link on this, or next listing(s), this Ghia will sell at the NOW "buy it now" price. Hearing it rev/run, and going through the gears is a for sure SOLD guarantee! Unfortunately, most buyers are a distance away and do not have the luxury of on hands testing. On Oct-11-12 at 09:55:35 PDT, seller added the following information: BUY THE HARD TOP CUSTOM; BUT IF TOP DOWN IS A MUST, BUY THIS ONE. Christmans will come & go.On Oct-12-12 at 17:32:04 PDT, seller added the following information: I hate to tell you this, but at $11,500 BUY IT NOW price, owning this is a long way and time from "in your driveway" (at the present bidding momentum). Shifting full throttle with the EMPI 2.5 inch (or less) shift distance between gears! BAMM! Or, just a cruise knowing the sound and capability is knawing at the other cruisers on the strip or VW meet. TOPLESS and feel'n like a high performance motorcycle on four wheels, thats this car. May you spend your money on valubles of 100% return value instead of 100% depreciation. On Oct-15-12 at 08:31:20 PDT, seller added the following information: Last time this ran on Ebay it bid to $7500. It will not sell below $9,500. One could not build this machine for that.
