Vehicle Detail
Central Valley Classics Helping people buy their dreams for over 20 years We are proud to offer this special vehicle for auction! GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BIDDING! 1935 Desoto SG Airflow Coupe 1 of about 12 known to exist! VIN - 5086943 241 ci F-head 6 cylinder engine 3 Manual transmission w/ Overdrive Manual Steering Original artillery wheels hubcaps & trim rings Fender skirts This is one of several cars from an estate, what you will read in the description about the car is all that is known. I'm not sure of the total production numbers of the 35 Desoto S2 coupe but my research has determined only about 12 are known to exist according to the Airflow registry. Now you are looking at a nice solid and very complete car for restoration. I can tell you the gentleman that passed paid a whole lot more nearly 10 years ago than what the reserve is today. I crawled around inside, topside and peeked underneath to get a good look and photos of the car. I understand from the brother that he found this car hiding out in the AZ desert, it had been a CA car that ended up there many years ago. I found the body to be very clean for an unrestored car nearly 80 years old, there is surface rust throughout but very little perforation of the metal. It clearly spent it's life on the west coast and in dry areas as well. It appears that most of the original wood is also present for patterns when restoring the car. The grill is damaged on the lower half. The car is very complete, the only thinks missing that I saw was the headlight glass and the handle from the trunk is not present. The engine had the head removed at some point and it is mia but all the engine and engine bay parts are in the trunk or inside the car. Someone started collection parts for the restoration, there is an extra set of skirts, new wheel cylinders and what appears to be a set of tail lights with Desoto script lenses (dealer accessory?). In the trunk are the 4 original hubcaps and trim rings. The glass can all be made for the car through a glass shop. The interior is surprisingly in great shape. Every panel is intact for patterns to make new upholstery and the headliner is still in place and original material. The gauges look like the could easily be restored to new compared to others seen of the same vintage. The steering wheel looks good as does the impossible to find horn button. The engine condition is unknown but the engine parts to rebuild it are still readily available. The cylinder head should be able to be obtained with little difficulty as it was used on many other Chrysler cars. The radiator is in the back seat, the air cleaner, carb. and other engine parts are in the trunk. The body tag is present with codes for the color and interior but I had not had time to decode them myself. I think this project can be restored to a beautiful car again. I have quite a few additional pictures upon request, I posted the max eBay allows. There is no Buy-It-Now, if you want to bypass the bidding on this auction please make an offer I can submit to the Fiduciary for the estate and it will considered. The reserve was set the low end of the current market value as determined by a professional appraiser for the estate. This was determined using comparable sales from auctions and private sales from all over the country, condition was factored into this as well as options on the car. Please don't ask what the reserve is as it's not fair to the other bidders in the auction. There is no interest in any trades, the car is sold as is. I welcome inspections, the car is in storage a few miles from me and can be viewed by appointment. The winning bidder will receive clear title from the estate, it will take several days for the title to be sent after full funds have been received. A bill of sale will be provided in lieu of title until it is sent to you. I can assist with arranging shipping to your location or make recommendations for shipping, of course it can be picked up in person after estate has received funds. The car must be picked up within 14 days from the close of auction unless alternate arrangements have been agreed to. Please let me know any questions you have. This car is located in Fresno, CA. Terms and Conditions Of The Auction The winning bidder agrees to provide a $500 deposit within 24 hours of the close of the auction, the balance is due within 7 days. The balance is to be paid through a bank transfer. Please don't bid if your funds are not readily available, if you are applying for a loan please give the bank ample time for an inspection. The auction is to purchase a car, the winning bidder is entering a contract to purchase this car and not to look it over after the purchase, please arrange any inspections before auction end. Ask all questions necessary to make a decision before auction end. If we arrange transportation for the vehicle, open or enclosed, the buyer pays for the shipping. While every effort is made to provide complete and accurate information regarding each vehicle being auctioned, bidders are advised to rely upon their own research. I personally look at these vehicles and write these auction listings, I also gather as much information from the car owner. My descriptions are as I see the car, it may differ from your opinion. I have over 30 years experience but as you, I am human and it is possible for me to miss something. PLEASE ASK, your questions will be answered and if I don't know I will find out. The car is listed on our website and we reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time should this vehicle be sold before auction ending time, before the reserve has been met and shall not be held responsible or liable for such cancellation. No auction will ended early once the reserve has been met.
