Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a 2006 Honda GL1800 in great condition. I bought this bike used on 7/23/2012 from Harley Davidson of Danbury CT. It was a trade-in with low miles and in great shape. Nothing is broken or malfunctioning, everything works. Clearly, the bike has never been dropped or mishandled in any way. I put a total of 19 miles on it, driving it around the block. It is the Comfort-NAV version, with heated seats and grips, AM-FM radio, Auxiliary / MP3-connection, and GPS. It also has intercom connections. It is a non-ABS vehicle. It has been fitted with LoJack. I also purchased a three-year pre-paid maintenance contract from the dealership, but I do not know if it is transferable to another party or to another dealership. I have the original bill of sale in my possession. No, I am not 'flipping' the bike: I simply made a BIG mistake in judgment. I am a small guy, only 5'4" with a 28" inseam, who hasn't ridden much in the last five years, and I got the bright idea to buy the biggest touring bike I could find. I saw this bike on the Danbury Honda's web site and immediately bought it after visiting the dealership... without test-driving it first. It was delivered to my place of residence by truck, and I immediately knew I had a big problem: I knew it was a big bike, but I mistook my ability to comfortably control it. Try as I might, I just couldn't get used to it, especially in slow speeds or stopping on hills or in traffic. We have both on my block. It is a bike is for experienced riders, not beginners like me. A friend suggested the Tow-Pac 12" Insta-Trike kit as a solution. I bought the kit, and as you can see, it has been installed. I have not modified the stock color of black gel-coat because I think it looks very nice and contrasty with the silver-gold hue of the bike itself. If you prefer, the fenders are easily removable and can be painted. The Insta-Trike kit is a neat accessory: It is a removable trike kit, so, depending on your needs, you have both a trike and a bike in one vehicle. I installed it and all it did was go around the block a few times. It is absolutely brand new. But, sad to say, even with the stability of three wheels (well, actually, four), the initial impact of the big bike stuck, and bike or trike, I just can't get used to anything this big. Yep, I'm afraid of it... and I won't ride it... so my loss is your gain. As I said, everything works. Harley installed a new battery in it when it was prepped for delivery to me, the oil change is brand new, and about the only thing I can see that isn't perfect is that the grips have cuts and wear and probably need replacement. That's it. The engine runs beautifully, sounds like a turbine, and is very powerful. I also have an aftermarket backrest which has been removed, it will be included in the sale. I prefer local pickup, and you are welcome to visit and inspect, and I am willing to work with a carrier of your choice to ship the bike, buyer pays all shipping expenses, no exceptions! If you have any questions, please email me, I will respond quickly. Thanks for looking!
