Vehicle Detail
This 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ is one of 2500 Silverstone 60th anniversary models produced. The same number were produced in Black for a total of 5000 vehicles. The 60th anniversary jeeps included special edition wheels, floormats, and badges. This particular Cherokee comes with the limited edition wheels and badges, but is missing the original floormats. I purchased this Jeep used approximately 4 years ago. It had 38,000 miles on it at that time, now it has 67616 original miles. It is an accident-free vehicle. Shortly after I purchased it, I decided to build it up for some "light" off-road use, but it has never left the pavement since the day I purchased it! Building "my" jeep, I didn't cut any corners and went with the best equipment that I could afford based on my research. It started with a AFE cold air intake and Borla stainless steel cat-back exhaust to boost horsepower/torque a little. I then proceded to lift it approximately 3" using Old Man Emu leaf springs and JKS coil-over adjustable spacers. I had Old Man Emu NitroCharger shocks installed at all 4 corners. In the front end, I had the bearings/bushings replaced, a Rusty's Off Road Drop Pitman Arm, Kevin's Off-Road traction bar, and Kevin's off road dual piston steering stabilizer installed. I then installed Rocky-Road Outfitters superslider rock sliders (which are virtually indestructible and look great!). I removed the original wheels/tires and replaced them with Black Rock (Cragar) 15" wheels on BFGoodrich All-Terain T/A KO 30" tires. (The original tires/wheels are in "like-new" condition and included in the sale. The BFGoodrich Tires have about 25k miles on them. In the rear, I installed a TeraFlex rear disc brake conversion kit. Cosmetically, I installed a GOBI USA roof rack with ladder. It is capable of handling up to 300# of gear. In the front I installed and additional set of Delta Fog Lights in the bumper. These are wired with the original fog lights and all function correctly. I also installed a Detours BumperBrow light bar on the front bumper that holds a pair of Warn 6.5" Driving lights. These are wireless and controlled by a key fob. They are wired so as to only function when the headlights are "on". I installed IPF headlights and a heavy duty wiring harness as well. Inside, I put CoverKing seat covers front and rear and heavy duty rubber "slush" floor mats over the upholstered Cherokee mats to keep everything tidy, although the original upholstry, including the carpet, is in excellent condition without any tears, stains, or damage. Finally, I installed a 7 speaker 80wpc stereo system using a Kenwood Marine Stereo receiver. I thought it looked appropriate in a Jeep with rubber knob and buttons. This stereo opens to reveal a compartment where an IPhone/pod or USB device can be stored for music playback. I personally used a USB drive with a ton of music on it. The receiver allows search by directory which is great! The SiriusXM module is also installed along with wiring and antenna. Just activate it and enjoy!! All 7 speakers (including Sub) are Polk Audio. There are 6.5" speakers in each door that are component type with seperate tweeters. In the rear headliner, there are (2) coaxial 5.25" 2-way speakers, and finally an 8" sub in the rear. The system is powered by a pair of amps with 80wpc driving the door speakers, 50wpc driving the rear speakers, and 150wpc driving the sub. It sounds fantanstic!! In order to fit the receiver in the dash, I needed to trim the bezel. So I purchased a replacement Jeep dash bezel online, and trimmed that one, leaving the original untouched (obviously included in the sale, along with the original dash deck). It is ready to be a daily driver, off-road vehicle, or baseline for someone wanting to build something bigger and badder!! You would be hard-pressed to find a nicer 2001 Cherokee XJ. That said, it is NOT a brand new vehicle. The paint is not perfect. Ther are a few shallow door dings that have not broken the paint. There are also a few nicks and chips in the paint from daily use. There is some surface rust forming on the bottoms of the doors, but the rest is rust free. Also, the entire underbody was coated with Rhino-Liner by the previous owner. He did it correctly as a mechanic, and removed the drivetrain to coat the bottom, then reinstalled everything. Thanks for your interest. Please find many additional photos and videos (walk around and Jeep running) at : http://s301.photobucket.com/albums/nn78/tolthoff/2001%20Jeep%20Cherokee%20XJ/ Please email any questions. Thanks! I've responded to a few great questions that I will share... 1.) The Gobi Roof rack clamps on the drip rail in 6 places; the ladder clamps on the rear hatch. No drilling required. The hatch opens freely with the ladder attached. 2.) I have used Mobil 1 synthetic oil/filter in this Jeep as long as I have owned it, and the previous owner did likewise. 3.) All fluids have been recently changed including both differentials, transmission, and transfer case. No maintainance is required at this time. 4.) The 4x4 system functions flawlessly. 5.) The A/C has a small leak. My mechanic has searched for it twice with dye and has not found it. I have been charging the A/C at the beginning of the summer and it functions fine throughout the season. 6.) The larger tires cause a slight discrepancy b/t actual speed and speedometer reading. I measured 2-3mph difference at 60-65mph. 7.) The lift was performed using leaf springs and adjustable coil spacers. No body lift was performed. It could be returned to the normal height by replacing the OME rear leafs with factory Jeep springs, and adjusting the front spacers to level. Thanks again for all the questions!! Also, this Jeep is for sale locally and I reserve the right to close the auction early for a local sale.
