Vehicle Detail
Here is a 1965 21 Window Deluxe that I've owned for 12 years. I've slowly restored it in that time to be a driver. The bus was very solid when I bought it with no structural rust. The rust that was there has all been cut out but was in 'the usual spots' of the driver and passenger foot well, rear cargo area and around the base of the windshields. All rust has been cut out and replaced with clean sheet metal. Bus was shot with single stage enamel about 6 years ago. Not a professional paint job which means there are sags and some orange peel. The majority of the work has been done in the last 6 years with the bumpers having just been powder coated in July. Lowered in the front with drop spindles and in the rear by turning the torsion bars. This lowered it by about 3 1/2" and with lower profile tires it has a nice stance but won't leave you scraping bumpers pulling in the driveway. It has KYB shocks all the way around and over sized Sway-a-Way sway bar in the front. All this makes this bus handle nicely. Interior has original rubber front floor mat in good shape. Cargo floor mat has split into about 3 pieces but is all there under the carpet. Interior panels are from TMI and were replaced about 5 years ago. Interior clock does not work. I just replaced the fuel tank float and seal but the gas guage itself is not working. Speedo has been restored with new gels. Emergency flasher does not work. The seats all had new 'foam' cushions and covers about 5 years ago. Headliner was replaced around the same time. Sunroof slides easily. It's been rebuilt and aluminum rails polished. Installed a rebuilt 1600 dual port with a dog house oil cooler just about 2 years ago. I've put about 300 miles on it since then. Rebuilt freeway flyer transmission with less than 500 miles on it. Even with the reduction boxes you can cruise at 60-65 on the highway. Even though it's not a concourse winning bus it's a blast to drive and gets plenty of smiles, waves and comments every time I take it out. More details are below. Any questions, just let me know. **Reserve and 'Buy it Now' are both set at $32,500** What it's had done: -New wiring harness -Rebuilt steering box -Popout windows frames media blasted -All glass was polished to remove water stains. -All window and door seals replaced (about 4 years ago) -With exception of windshields all glass is original -Front floor pans under driver/passenger's feet cut out and replaced -Rocker panel under cargo doors cut out and replaced -Cargo area floors cut out and replaced -Top of bus painted original Silver-Beige -Bottom painted 2004 Nissan Xterra Orange -Canvas ragtop replaced -New headliner installed -Polished deluxe beltline/bumper trim -New TMI '64 interior panels (I liked it better than the original salt and pepper '65 interior) -New seat upholstery custom by Sew Fine -New Wolfsburg West seat belts -Sound deadening material added in doors and behind most panels -Wheels and bumpers media blasted and powder coated white -Yokohama Avid H4S 195/65 R14 tires all the way around -Lowered spindles on the front -Turned the torsion bars in the rear -Rebuilt reduction boxes -Rebuilt freeway flyer tranny with less than 500 miles -Rebuilt sunroof slider mechanism -New fuel tank float and seal Comes with but not shown in pictures: -Splash pan in great shape -Headliner portion of sunroof -Yard or so of original '64 interior gray fabric to recover kick panel under rear seat -Box of random parts like extra fuel pump, chrome 009 distributor, clutch cable, throttle cable, misc bolts and screws, etc -Original drivers side headlight bucket -Spare wheel that's been media blasted and powder coated.
