In the 1960's, the Chevrolet Impala was America's best-selling car by far. Impala's appeal was far-reaching. It could be a sensible family sedan or spacious wagon, a sporty hardtop, a striking convertible or a storming, big-block Super Sport. In 1966, the Impala SS was face-lifted with a revised grille and new rectangular taillights that replaced the triple round units. A chrome beltline strip shared with regular Impalas was added in response to complaints about door dings on the clean-lined 1965s. Inside were new Strato bucket seats with thinner and higher seatbacks, and a center console with an optional gauge package available. Sales of the 1966 Impala SS dropped by more than 50% to around 117,000 units; this was mainly due to the sport/performance car market switching from full-sized models to intermediates (including Chevy's own Chevelle SS396 and Pontiac GTO), along with the emerging market for the even smaller pony car market created by the Ford Mustang in 1964 that Chevrolet would respond to with the Camaro for 1967. The car you see here is white, 2 door with black interior. Front Disc brakes, Centerline wheels, with a big block 454 under the hood and starts with a turn of the key. The 454 Cubic inch engine was built by the Late and Great Luther Costales of “Houston Engine & Balancing." The Transmission is a Automatic 350 – Built by Michael’s Racing Motors and Transmission of “All Transmission.” The Rear End is a posi-traction 12 bolt main 3.73 ratio, built by Pyle Brothers of Baytown, TX. The carburetor is a 750cfm double-pumper Holley. Clean Texas Title, Runs great, sounds awesome! VIN number is 168376R146362. Payment: Full payment required within 7 days of auction close.
