Vehicle Detail

1975 Austin Mini Clubman Street-Legal Race Car 2.0 liter 180hp GM Engine (Vauxhall Astra GSI) This rare classic „square nose“ Mini was setup in England with the following modifications: - Vauxhall Astra GSI Engine (C20?? - Englands most thought after tuning engine by GM) without further modification (160hp) - converted to Weber double carburetor pair to produce additional 20hp, - converted to electronic ignition timing (prgrammable) for better performance, - custom made stainless steel exhaust with an excellent sound, - Facet racing fuel pump, - racing inertia fuel pump switch, - Vauxhall Cooler with switchable fan, - Vauxhall Astra GSI digital dash, - AMT Sub frame for Vauxhall engines, - Roll Cage, - MG Metro Turbo Brakes, - Corbeau Racing Seats, - Four Point Harnesses, - 13” Weller wheels with 185x50 Tires, Little to no rust and drives everywhere (bought it in London, drove it to Austria, shipped it to Newark and drove it to Boston). But there is still work to do, while you drive it: - Brake system needs some work - Engine or/and carburetors need tweaking, because it doesn't take power as it should all the time. - One handle for the window is broken. - Got a light hit in the back, so there is some work there (see pictures). - Tank is leaking (right now there is a smaller tank installed, so the tank can be sealed). - Could use a better paint job That is quite a list, but nothing too major. I tried describe it as honest as possible. The car was standing the last couple of month, because I didn't had time to enjoy it. This is an excellent opportunity to own a car like this for a fraction of the money. Cars like this in good to very good shape sell for about $30.000. I set a very reasonable reserve price! The car was setup as a Race Car, so there is no carpet in the car. What I know, there is no other car like this in the US. I drove once a Mini with Honda engine and it didn't go like this one! Furthermore this is the choice for British car fans, because it is still all British! I owned this car for about 6 years and it didn't fail me once. I never had to buy parts for it, except for brake pads and oil filter. Mini Parts are easy to get in the US. I hate to sell it, but I am moving and cannot take it with me. Call me at 510-402-3648 or email me at langalex **at ***yahoo *** dot ***de This is a private auction, so the car is sold AS IS. No warranties what so ever! I tried to describe it to the best of my knowledge. The car needs to be picked up within 7 day after the end of the auction! I will be happy to help with shipment, but it is the buyers responsibility. Full payment is due before pickup and a deposit of $500 dollar is required within 24h after the end of the auction! I reserve the right to cancel this auction anytime, because the car is also on sale locally! On Sep-20-12 at 13:54:32 PDT, seller added the following information: I added some more photos to show the good state of the body (except the problem in the back) and underbody. It does not have a backseat to keep the racing look and save weight. I measured the weight with 1587lbs. The mileage is not known. The odometer reads 84422mls. I guess the odometer comes from the same car as the engine. But I don't know for sure. No record of the mileage of the car. I did put about 5000mls on the car in about 6 years. It was sold to me few months after it was build/converted. On Sep-21-12 at 16:41:07 PDT, seller added the following information: I decided that I remove the reserve price! So that means the MINI will be sold! Does not feel good, but my loss is your gain! Good luck! On Sep-22-12 at 19:25:38 PDT, seller added the following information: Some answers everybody should know: The mini is in driving condition, however I recommend to tow this car home when picking it up. This has various reasons: First you need to see through the brakes as mentioned (I guess air in the system), second I would not drive this car long distances before I get used to it (Right Hand Drive with stick, very fast and maybe too much power, low seating position, etc.). I went to the storage today and tried to start it. The battery seems to die. It is not powerful enough to start the engine even after an overnight charge. With jump start from another car, it started right away. Well finally the question came up about the damage. This is embarassing: It went for a spin alone (the gear jumped out)! Backwards down the driveway and onto an electrical pole. Luckily it didn't run into the street! Yes, the parking brake is working... I didn't use it. By the way, I have a couple of spare parts, which go with the car, e.g. gas tanks, a trunk lid, which is in nice condition but green. The mini is titled but I sent in the plates already. The title is clean and in my name! The engine is a little bit sweating underneath (you can see it in one picture I guess), but even after a couple of month in the storage, there are no drops underneath the car.
