Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1997 Triumph Speed Triple. This bike has only 10,423 miles on it and comes with a carbon fiber exhaust. It has been modified with double chrome street-fighter style headlamps. It has a rear seat cowl, bar end mirrors, a tank protector, and steel-braided brake lines. The speed triple boasts a single sided swingarm giving it the ultimate in naked sport bike looks. This bike has not been on the road all season and hasn't been ridden since last year. The gas was stabilized and we just recently gave it a tank flush but the carbs have been a little varnished over. The bike does start and run and goes on it's own power through the parking lot, but I would highly recomend that the carbs be cleaned out. Because of it being 15 years old and we are not a Triumph dealer, we are going to sell in on EBay for we have no banks that will finance a bike that old and since it's been sitting so long, we do not want to spend the money it would take for our Service Dept. to do a full prep on it and still leave enough for us to sell for a profit. So we set the reserve at what we took the bike in for and will try to recoup that money and hopefully make a little profit. This bike is perfect for someone who knows there way around a Triumph and doesn't mind getting their hands dirty. The battery seems to be holding a charge and fires the bike up, but it takes a few minutes for the bike to warm up and start to rev higher, and it does backfire a bit which is all the tell tale signs of it needing it's carbs cleaned out. Everything else seems to be running fine, The high/low beam works, the horn and directionals work. The previous owner admitted that he had hooked the battery up backwards and had to replace a fuse. He was not sure what damage that could have caused so he put the thing away for the winter and never really got around to trading it until recently. So if someone wants to put a little time and effort into bringing this bike back up to safe operating standards, this could be one heck of a deal for them.
