Here we have a 63 1/2 Mercury Marauder S-55. This car was purchased this week from a retired lady that is moving to Florida from Illinois and could not afford to take this car with her. The car belonged to her aunt that lived in New Jersey and was shipped to Illinois around 2000, with the hopes of restoring it, but this never happened. I purchased the car and towed it home, put a battery in it, hooked it up to a gas can and it started up with a little priming of gas in the carburator, it sounds very good and has good oil pressure, also antifreeze still visible in overflow tank, did not have exhaust smoke. I let it run for about 15 minutes. Brakes are not working, tires are weather checked, has a crack in the windshield, looks to have been rear ended because bumper and chrome panel between tail lights and also trunk lid looks to have been damaged and poorly repaired. Air cleaner is in the trunk, along with snow tires and extra parts. Car looks to be 100% complete. I have had hard top cars before and never heard doors close as good as these do, and has good alignment, no sagging. Only rust underneath I noticed was where the toeboard and the passenger floor meet as seen in picture. Rest of floor boards and rear inner quarters behind front wheels and also inner rocker panels look good. As you can see the car still has undercoating that looks to be original. The lady said the car was running and driving fine when her aunt passed away. The car has power steering, power brakes, remote mirror, radio make noise and interior lights are working. Front bumper is straight but has small amount of plating missing underneath passenger parking light. Please notice there is pictures showing the rust and also the crease on the passenger side. Also there is rust bubbles underneath the vinyl top around the bottom corners of the rear window. Please look at the pictures closely. I have described this car as accurately as possible. I have been around and still own many collector cars. If I was younger I would restore this one, still too many projects ahead of this one. This would be a good car to repair and make a driver or complete restoration candidate or excellent parts car. The battery is not included. Sun visor's stitching is in need of repair. The ladly said her aunt was second owner and she believes the milage to be accurate. This car is being sold as is where is so please ask all questions before bidding. I have a clear title in hand.
