You are viewing a pristine 1989 XR-7 Cougar being sold by the original owner. This car has less than 21,000 original miles and has never been in the snow and very seldom in the rain. The engine is the original supercharged 3.8 liter V6 engine identical to the Thunderbird Super Coupe engine and has a 5 speed manual transmission. The engine is totally original except for the installation of a slightly smaller supercharger pulley which resulted in about 1 psi more boost (I still have the original pulley). This is a fairly rare car since the super charged engine was only used during the 1989 and 1990 XR-7 production. According to the Super Coupe Club of America (SCCOA) only 2238 XR-7’s were made in 1989 with a 5 speed manual transmission.The car has never been raced, wrecked or abused and is in like new condition. There is only one very minor dent when someone opened a car door into the right side door (shown in photos). There is absolutely no rust on the car. Everything works in the car, but like most older cars, the AC has to have a can of Freon added each summer. The AC system has been freshly charged and blows cold. The XR-7 was very unique for its day with independent rear suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes with anti-lock feature and with an auto/firm ride adjustment feature. As seen in the original window sticker, the car is loaded with leather interior, 2 way power moon roof, 6 way power seats, power windows, power locks, tilt wheel and air conditioning. The car still has its original Good Year Eagle tires with a lot of tread left, but would recommend new tires if you plan on putting a lot of miles on the car. I have pampered this car for over 23 years and due to having too many cars, have decided to sell it. I hope that it continues to be pampered.
