Vehicle Detail
1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III This Continental has a very classy body style and would make a cool low rider or restored show vehicle. It runs and drives so it could be spruced up for a daily driver but has so much more potential than that. Powered by a 460 V8, and a C6 transition, she was fast and luxurious. Green tinted glass is all intact with no cracks. Felts and window rubber are holding in there but would need to be replaced if you want to make a show car out of this beauty and keep the rain out. Tires are fair but a new battery would be a must. Vacuum headlight doors open and close, and all lights work. Inside luxuries that were not standard in most cars forty plus years ago, include working power windows, power seats, air conditioning, cruise control, wonder bar am/fm radio, cherry wood dash panels, and power breaks. Leather on the driver’s seat is worn considerably but the back seat looks pretty good for its age. The headliner is in good condition. Carpet is worn but the floor panels are not rusted. The original floor jack is in the trunk with a spare. She has three good hubcaps but lost one along the way. Body panels, rocker panels, under carriage, and trunk have no more than some surface rust but, the existing vinyl top will need to be removed and replaced because of a rusting roof. This rust is extensive under the vinyl but must not have eaten through as there is no water damage or spotting to the interior headliner. There is visible cracked repair work on the trunk lid but if you should win this bid a replacement trunk lid will come with the car. All stainless trim is bright and in place, none is missing. Front and back bumpers are straight and complete but need rechroming if you intend to restore her to her original glory. The grill housing is straight but some of the chrome has been polished off revealing the copper underneath. The grill itself is in good condition. Yes this Lincoln is a project car but, ah . . . the potential! Too many projects at my house have led me to ‘thinning the herd’. It has a clear tital 2 sets of keys. If I can’t sell her I’ll have to junk her but it would be a shame. I will not sell her for junk yard pricing, if she has to go to scrap she will be lost forever.
