Vehicle Detail

Bonneville 2 Door Hardtop This is a very Rare and desirable Bonneville 2 door hardtopCurrent owner looked for one to restore for several years. He was working in the GM dealers in the 60's and fell in love with this one year only body style. The car has been completed and used sparingly for the last several years as he owns 5 collector cars and was busy working full time in running his auto repair shop for 30 years. This year he retired and is downsizing. With plans to move south close to the grandchildren and not enough garage space after the move a few cars are being sold.. The 1960 Bonneville was Pontiac's top of the line car. It has the widest wheel base ( wide track) and very long wheel base of 124" with a total length of 220.7" With a low production of 17 thousand and few surviving makes this as a rare car. Sold new for $3,465.00 It was a "muscle" car in its time and won many races in circle track, NRA championship and took 2nd place in pikes peak hill climb race. As you can see in the pictures, there were light modifications from stock for comfort, looks and dependability. Then entire running gear was rebuilt, updated transmission, bucket seats & console from a 65 Wildcat, dual antennas, later Pontiac 8 lug wheels and radial tires. This wonderful car was restored by a ASE master tech over three years of time. He bought the car after previous owner started the work. Last owner had repaired the trunk floor with fiberglass and is looks good and has help up well. Then the current owner sent the stripped down rolling body out for complete sandblasting. Then it went in for body work and primer. Very little trust was found, including the floors. It was repaired as needed. A two stage silver paint with clear coats was applied. Car looks great, I would not call it a show paint job, but much better then your driver quality. Body is very, very straight. The stainless was polished, the bumpers were sent in and replated. Dual antennas added for a cool look. The 8 lug wheels were added because of the nice look and later timken wheel bearings to upgrade from the old ball bearing style. The 389 was rebuilt, bored .030 over, new pistons, cam, lifters, bearing ect. , a custom made adapter was made to properly install the rebuilt turbo 400 3 speed transmission and GTO floor shifter. The console has the rare Pontiac vacuum gauge. New radiator, heater core, belts and soft plugs. Steering box was rebuilt and new steering lines and hoses. All new shocks. A complete dual exhaust was installed with flow masters, after a few drives the rear glass packs were installed as resonators to quite it down, could be removed fro a healthy sound. Brakes were completely replaced with new wheel cylinders, bake cables, master cylinder and Dot 5 brake fluid. The undercarriage was cleaned and re-undercoated. After the body and paint was done it got front seats and console from a 65 Buick Wildcat. The interior was done complete. Started with new jute padding, carpets and then the seats and door panels redone to match in burgundy velour and gray/silver vinyl. Then a new vinyl headliner was installed. A set of Pontiac rubber floor mats are protection the carpet. A complete set of seat belts were installed with winders in the front. A new aftermarket am/fm with the "Pontiac" logo on it runs two speakers. The dash is beautifully painted and the wood grain is nice. The windshield was replaced, other glass is good and is factory tinted. New door rubbers, window and trunk weather stripping. I know there is a lot of little things done, including sithes, electrical Has loads of power, nail the gas and Whao - Hoo it pulls like mad. Steers great and stops on a dime. This is a get in and enjoy car that would cost $40,000 to do again. But remember it is 50 years old and although professionally restored it is not new and is sold as is with no warranty. So call , talk or better yet come in for a drive! -389 engine completely machine and rebuilt-Stock 2.87 axle serviced ( great highway cruising) -Turbo 400 rebuilt transmission (with special adapter plate-done correctly)-New complete brake system-Rebuilt steering, new shocks -New Edelbrock carburetor and powder coated Edlebrock intake manifold-AM/FM radio -Radiator & heater core, hoses replaced-8 lug wheels with powder coated centers road wheels in good original shape-Complete new interior and headliner-Trunk has new mats and spare-Radial tires ( all 5) in the last 2 years with very few miles-Factory service manual, and other stuff from all the years NOTE: I have listed this car for a long time friend that is a old car guy, but not into computers.
