Vehicle Detail
you are looking at a rare barn find all origional 1959 Thunderbird..everything on the car is all stock, and in origional cond..has only 76,051 actual miles..this car my grandparents bought brand new in 1959 from the for dealer in Palm Springs California.they re-tired back then, moved to Palm Springs, and lived the rest of their life there..they always had it serviced, and have the owners manual, and service records..this is a very rare 1959 T-Bird,because its one of very few with factory air cond..it work when it was parked..has a factory power seat..still works..automatic trans, power steering, power windows, all 4-still work..i got this car from my grandparents over 20yrs ago..drove it all around, and had no problems..5-years i parked it in my garage and thought i had a guy who was going to restore the car for me..he turned out not to be what he said..the car has sat inside my garage for the past 5-6years,and has not been started..ran great when i parked it..i was going to do some things, and havn't had the time..i did have some one take off the carb, and go thru it..just done..but what really needs to be done is to drop the gas tank, clean it out, replace all fuel filters,i would re-place the fuel pump also, blow out,and clean the fuel lines, and put a new battery in..adjs the points, and it should fire right up..i would also bleed the brakes..i noticed when i moved it today, the brake pedal went down all the way..this car needs a complete restoration..but you have a very good base to start with..there is no rust wholes,or any major rust anywhere..the only rust that there is,is top surface, and there is no bubbles,or any soft spots..most surface rust is from sitting, and 90% of the car is very origional, and straight..again this car is all origional, all origional paint, and chrome..all the chrome in the car is in good shape..the front stainless steel grill in the center still in exlt cond..the hart top is in perfect shape..paint same way..the sides of the car have some dents, nothing major, and a very easy fix..chrome also in good shape on the sides..this car will need a complete interior..it was a Southern California car, from Palm Springs..very hot in the summer, but dry all year round..that's why the car is so rust free..however the leather interior from the heat, and age,has cracked, goton dry,and needs to be re-done..same with dash pad..the head liner, has 3-small holes, but i would do this also..the interior chrome on the dash is in great shape, and the other interior chrome is pitted a little, but thats only above where the windows close..up above,by head liner..the engine is all origional,my grandparents did disconnect the heater core hoses because in Palm Springs it was so hot,all they used was the A.C.,or on nice evenings they rolled down the windows..the am radio still works, its a old tube type..when i parked it all the lights, and turn singles worked..the trunk of the car is pretty much rust free, and dry..all origional trunk liner still in trunk..this car needs some work, but is not a major project.....it only has 76,051 origional miles..when i drove the car,it used no oil..or smoked..has factory dual exhaust..but needs a interior, and as far as body work both sides need work, but i would leave the top alone..keep it origional paint..the top of the car,is in perfect shape..paint..also...the hood also is in good shape, needs little touch up..but sides, and front by headlights, needs paint:little body..this T-Bird back in 1959 was called the Perry Mason Car..in his TV show,he drove a car like this..so did Drake..this car sits very low to the ground..came factory back then..this is a VERY FAST TOP END CAR.. and what i mean is back then this car would do 150 mph..top..but would do cruise at 100mph easy..has very top end gears..all factory..i can tell you this back 20 years ago i went on a group cruise, and on a nice straight away, flat,i went aprox 125mph.back in the days, cars were heavy, had power, and were simple to work on...the car comes with the Oregon SP plates..along with the origional plate frames.still on the car..what you will buying here is a 1-OWNER CAR.LOW ACTUAL 76,051 MILES..and some restoration..car needs to be woke up,and driven again..this is a very nice driving car..back in 1959 the T-Bird was the best, top of the line, most money, and the best ride that Ford offered..when you go on a nice cruise, you enjoy, and see the real history how cars were built back in the 50'S..quality built..i don't have the time to re-store this car..however i do know this if you make this car a ten..the car is worth $50,00-$75,000...that's what they have sold for at Barrette Jackson..other auctions $35,000-$50,00..the car is a solid car to work with..no rust anywhere in the floor, doors, trunk,so fix the 53 years worth of dents, get it running,do a interior, and you will have a real nice 1-owner T-Bird..i have posted as many pictures as i can,and have shown all good, along with bad..any more questions please call me at 503-642-7625...leave me a message if i miss your call...thanks for looking...
