Vehicle Detail
Description:For sale is a 1973 Porsche 914 2.0L, signal orange with brown interior, ~113k miles. This is a turnkey car that can be your daily driver or competitive autox car. It has been upgraded and refreshed to be a completely reliable, street-legal go-cart. For those unfamiliar: the 73 2.0L is the fastest 4-cylinder 914 produced by the factory. It has the largest displacement engine, all of the factory options (anti-sway bars, alloy wheels, center console, leather steering wheel), and none of the emissions control equipment that bogged down the later 2.0L 4-cylinder cars. A 4" maintenance and history binder is included with the car that details its life, including the original bill of sale. Below is a list of highlights:Drivetrain< 10k miles on a professionally rebuilt engine, stock rebuild except for euro (mahle) Pistons and Cylinders (0.5 increase in compression ratio)< 5k miles on a rebuilt transmission from Blue Sky Motorsports, including new dog teeth on 1st and 2nd gear, new synchros on all 5 gears, all new seals, fresh coat of TectylUpgraded sideshift linkage from Tangerine Racing Crank-fired fuel injection system from Original Customs, including all new sensors, fuel injectors, coil packs, and wiring harness.Brand new Ignition wiring harness and alternator wiring harness from Jeff Bowlsby Stainless Steel tunnel fuel lines from Tangerine Racing; flex hose replaced with 30R9 (ethanol resistant) and correct fuel injection hose clampsFront-mounted mocal oil cooler with console thermostat and aeroquip hosesSSI stainless steel heat exchangers (full stainless, with stainless flanges)Interior Custom gauge package including oil temp, oil pressure, volts, cyl head temp, and AFR"sleeper" radio including amp, two 6.5" polk momo speakers in stock locations and an 8" footwell subwoofer, EQ in the glove boxTwo period-correct Koenig racing seats5-point restraints -- the factory 3-point belts have been retained crack-free dashSuspension / Wheels / Brakes 4 rebuilt calipers on all 4 corners from PMB performance, including new brake hoses, pads, clips, pins, bleeders and hardware (integrated ebrake works perfectly)reinforced, boxed-in rear suspension pickup points installed by Tangerine Racingturbo tie rodsElephant Racing polybronze bearingsRebuilt all 4 CV joints including new grease, bolts, washers, boots, and gasketsfront and rear factory sway barsFactory Fuchs wheels with Kumho Ecsta 195/65r15 tires, <5k milesOther Maintenance and Upgrades Upgraded fuse panel and headlamp relay kit from jwest engineering, along with sealed optima red-top batteryrebuilt pedal cluster with bronze bushingsMany replaced body seals, including targa top sealsMany small things replaced within the last year: transmission mounts, motor mounts, vacuum hoses, ignition switch, relays, intake gaskets, clutch cable, throttle cable, engine sound pad...Maintenance:This car has been extremely well maintained. Oil pressure is excellent, oil temperature is excellent, valve adjustments keep between oil changes and head temps average around 325 degrees F on the highway (cooler around town). Included is a 4" binder containing maintenance records from me and all the previous owners, including the original bill of sale. Rust:This car is as rust free as any 914 can be that has not had a windows-out, full-on strip-down concours restoration. Longitudinals, suspension consoles, jack points, and battery tray are totally solid. The under-battery area ("hell hole"), driver's side door catch and rear trunk pan were all professionally repaired with welded-in, painted metal. Issues:Although the car presents very well as shown in the pictures, it has some dings and scratches. The engine will leave a drop or two of oil after a highway run (oil consumption is less than the factory spec of 1 quart/1k miles). Conclusion:This car needs nothing electrical or mechanical. I was upgrading and maintaining this car as if I'd never sell it, but a 7 month old will change your perspective quickly! If you're looking for a car to drive and enjoy reliably...this is it. It's a turnkey car that needs nothing -- not even brake pads or tires. Fly in and drive it home. Note: I have some spares and extra parts. If I get close to my asking price, I can include some of these and will give the buyer a great deal on the rest -- I would love to avoid the hassle of selling the individual parts.
