Vehicle Detail
1964 Dodge 880 Sedan RELISTED - TOP BID GETS IT! This car was my friend's great-grandparents' car, and was parked on the family farm next to a tree behind the barn (see photos below before we pulled it out) when they died. The radiator was drained and the car sat there from about 1979 onward, shaded from the sun by a tree which was on the south side of the car. The family recently sold the property and told me that I could have the car if I could remove it. I have since powerwashed the outside, vacuumed the inside, aired up the tires and got the motor running. That's as much as I'm going to do, and now it's for sale. This is a complete original unrestored car that would make a great restoration candidate, or a complete parts car, and probably isn't far from being drivable. Features: - 361 CID V8, 265 hp and (get this) 380 lb-ft of torque at only 2400 rpm!!! - Pushbutton Automatic - Power Steering The Dodge 880 resulted when Dodge downsized their cars for 1961 and had a sales disaster. In order to have something large to sell, they took the Chrysler full size body, altered the front and rear ends, and called it the 880. Basically, this is a Chrysler sedan, with big-block Chrysler V8 power, comfort, size (122 inch wheelbase) and quality, but with Dodge lettering. It should make for a very powerful and comfortable cruiser, and has a high rear axle ratio (2.78) for the highway. This baby would be a cruiser!! What I Know: I have only hotwired the motor to get it running off a gas can, and can demonstrate that it runs well (no noise/smoke), but have no keys for the car, have not worked on the brakes, and have not attempted to drive the car, so that's about all I can say. The tranny fluid is clean, and the power steering works and the fluid looks good. The oil is black (no sign of coolant mixing) and the level is full; I havn't changed or added oil so that the buyer can inspect the way I found it. The odometer shows 38064, but has probably turned over once. The body is RUST FREE except for spots of surface rust that can be seen in the photos and a tiny (quarter size) spot on the right fender bottom where rust is only beginning to come through (see photo of right side); even the rockers are solid. Otherwise the body has only a few blemishes. I haven't opened the trunk (no keys), but pulled the back seat back out and there is a spare tire, an antique chair, and bags of women's clothes. The paint would buff out to look better, but you can see that it deteriorated in a few places where the tree branches actually touched the car. The windshield is cracked, but all other glass is good. The interior is complete except for two missing armrests. The front bumper was bent pulling the car out, but is common with other mopar cars and could probably be straightened. The bumpers/trim are covered in light corrosion that will come off with steel wool, but are not rusted/pitted. The seats are all there but both have cracks. The car has the original seatbelts. The exhaust system is intact and muffles well. The cooling hoses are dry-rotted and the system doesn't hold water for long, but the radiator appears to be in excellent shape and was covered with a bug screen. The freeze plug on the middle of the passenger side of the block is rusted out and leaks (yes, the plug, I'm not hiding anything - you can stick your finger through it). I cannot see any other leaks from the block. The tires hold for about a week but are weather-checked. Because the owners died many years ago and no title can be found, I am selling this car for PARTS ONLY. (Ebay requires me to list what kind of title the car has above, but there is no title.) An application for a new title or bonded title may be obtained in the State of Montana, however, if you choose to pursue that. I will deliver the car for $20 within the Gallatin Valley only; car is located in Belgrade and may be seen by contacting me at 406-594-3075. Car is sold AS-IS AND WHERE-IS, and absolutely no warrantees are made concerning it, either expressed or implied. Must be removed within 7 days of auction close. Immediate deposit of $250 required at close of auction via Paypal. Balance payment in cash when car is picked up. Thanks and good luck!
