Vehicle Detail
Ultra classic, TWO OWNER (with extensive service and purchase records) 1966 Mercedes Benz 230 "heckflosse" sedan. This is the later W110 bodied short-fintail sedan, still in original, unrestored condition. Completely original MBZ, originally purchased brand-new by the original owner at the Mercedes Benz factory in Stuttgart, DE, and brought to the U.S in April of 1966. Two local owners. Second owner purchased it from the original owner 12 years ago. Both maintained extensive service and repair records, to include a complete engine rebuild, MBZ Letter of Overseas Delivery, all its original owner's manuals AND its original Mercedes Benz cardex data sheet. ORIGINAL 1966 BLACK PLATES. Completely original, READY TO DRIVE, turn-key condition 230 Heckflosse. Remarkable for a forty six year-young Benz! The car is completely original, still in the old original paint, with NO DENTS and NO ACCIDENTS. All sections of the full frame, all floorboards, doors, door sills, trunklid, trunk floor, engine bay, hood, rocker panels and quarter panels are rust free. I removed the original rubber matting ( which is STILL in EXCELLENT CONDITION) to inspect underneath, and the car has super clean, all-original floorboards.~! The stock, original 2.3L inline six-cylinder engine runs GREAT; it starts immediately and idles like a clock. Drives very well in the freeway. 156K original miles. As noted earlier, this 2.3L motor has been thoroughly rebuilt. Completely stock, with its original SOLEX 2V dual carburetors, which are nicely synchronized, and idle fine, with no leaks or surging. NO oil leaks, no exhaust leaks, NO knocking, pinging or any internal or external engine noises. It maintains full oil pressure of 45 lbs. and holds its temperature at normal mid-low on the gauge. SUPER NIFTY, COLOR CHANGING SPEEDO~! Rebuilt pump, brake master, clutch master, Power brake booster, timing chain cover seals, front brakes, etc. New battery last year. This 230 is equipped with the desirable factory four-speed manual transmission, with the shifting lever on the column. The transmission shifts very well into all four forward and reverse gears. There is NO gear grinding, or any odd noises. The clutch grabs well at mid-point, with NO slippage, chatter or grinding. It was serviced once previously, and it is also doscumented in tyhe service records. No howling noises from the differential nor axle bearing noises. As mentioned, the body is in remarkable shape for such an old Mercedes. The interior is better than average condition, given the age of the car. ALL the seats are in remarkable condition, to including BOTH front bucket seats, except the top of the rear backrest, as pictured. The headliner is still fine, not hanging or drooping; the door panels are in EXCELLENT shape. The dash is in good condition for the age of the car. All its chrome trim and interior trimn is complete and in very nice shape; the photos show its overall condition clearly. It has a fairly new battery and water pump. NICE stock correct-size tires with at least 70% tread remaining, mounted on its original MBZ 13" steel wheels with original MBZ hubcaps all the way around. The chrome is complete and still in remarkable shape for its age. Nice german HELLA headlights. Original ivory steering wheel, with its original center pad. Overall, a super classic W110 Fintail 230, in unrestored condition. Priced with a very modest opening bid and NO RESERVE. CLEAR CALIFORNIA TITLE, with its original black plates. Smog emissions exempt of course. * Feel free to EM or call me with questions, or if interested in making a BUY-IT-NOW offer at (650) 430-4660.
