Vehicle Detail

Clean, original 1976 MG Midget roadster. This convertible has lived in California all of its life since being purchased brand-new at Burlingame British Motorcars in Burlingame, CA back in April of 1977, by the original owner, a known California Formula Vee and Classic vintage race-car driver until now. He is now semi-retired, and reluctantly admits that he is no longer able to drive and tool around as much as he did in the past. This MG Midget was one of his toys, and he had done a few updates to the car, such as a mild anti-roll bar ( it can be removed if not desired), electric fuel pump, revised suspension and a few other minor items. This MG has been in storage for several years in a large warehouse in his property, packed along various trailers, two vintage Austin-Healey race cars, a Jaguar XKE, and various Formula Vee race cars. As they have been moved around a bit, the Midget got bruised along the way as you see from some bumps and bruises ( there are a couple of very interesting stories, like the bump on the left fender after a race helmet coming off and landing in vicinity of..). The car nevertheless is an old original and unmolested example ( except for the items mentioned previously), with 50K original miles. It runs and drives excellent. Always starts, idles and drives fine. No overheating or oil leaks ( surprising for ANY British car). It looks really neat and drives well. Interestingly, it has a modified clutch throw that engages almost immediately upon releasing the pedal, a la de carrere. The body is, as expected from a true California car, rust free throughout, to include all floorboards, wheelwells, door sills, doors, door jambs, trunk floor, trunk inside corners, trunklid, hood, doors, windshield posts and everywhere else in the car. There are a few dings and bruises as expected from any old unrestored classic, but the car nevertheless presents well and looks nice. The original white finish still shines nicely throughout the whole car, specially considering it is a 36 years-young MG. Again, there is NO rust on this car. I would have to assume that it has been repainted once prior, based on the age of the car. It has always been white. The interior is in good condition to reflect its low mileage, with very nice leatherette seats with no rips, tears or cuts, except for a sun spot of the outside of the driver's back as pictured. Both door panels are as well very clean, and with no damage. The dashboard has two hairlines, which is usual for an MG of any vintage. The rear cargo area is clean. The car has the old style gauges, and the large early style steering wheel. The convertible top is still in remarkable condition considering its age, with no rips, tears or visible damage. The top frame folds up and down with ease, without any rusted hinges or broken tabs. Overall, a very neat, solid example of an unrestored MG Midget, with a little bit of pedigree. Obviously, while not a concours, restored car, it has held up rather well in the mild California climate. Priced with a modest, fair opening bid and no reserve. Please note that this MG is also being advertised in other venues, and as such, I reserve the right ot end this auction if an offer or a BUY-IT-NOW presents itself. The Midget is being sold with current California registration thru June of this year, and a clear California title. Incidentally, it also comes with its ORIGINAL, old-type title also known back then as a "pink slip", showing him as the owner since way back then. Should you be the winning bidder, payment is to be received within three business days of the auction's end, please. Method of payment can be cashier's check or money orders. Personal, business or C.C advance or dividend checks may be utilized, but must clear funds at my banking institution, prior to any transportation arrangements being made. Upon receipt of payment, I shall immediately mail you the original California title and Bill of Sale, while shipping arrangements are being made. Another alternate method of payment can be a bank wire transfer to my local CHASE Bank branch; it expedites the process considerably, and allows for faster shipping arrangements to be made. Finally, PAYPAL may be an option, if previously arranged between the buyer and seller, prior to making a bid, and prior to the end of the auction. * Feel free to EM me or call with questions at (650) 430-4660 PST, prior to 9 pm please. Thank you for your interest~! On Aug-09-12 at 14:57:56 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE: * I forgot to mention, the MG will come with a TRUNK FULL of spare parts: filters, seals, gaskets, fuel pump, relays, etc. * Included will also be its original owners manual and parts manuals. * AND a tonneau cover for the top when it is folded down.
