I have for sale a 1997 Plymouth Neon Espresso Coupe with the 2.0L SOHC and 3spd automatic. Body has 164,717 miles on it, engine was changed out with one out of a 96 Neon with 68k on it back at 142k. Original engine had developed a piston slap that i could no longer stand. Re-gasketed the used engine before installing, did the timing belt and water pump as well. Car does however have a pretty good oil leak, it appears to be from the head gasket but not 100% certain of that, i did install the newer style multi-layer steel head gasket when i went thru the engine. I did not cut the head when i replaced the gasket.You will need to check the oil regularly, it will leave spots on the ground whenever you park it. It probably goes thru a quart every 1k miles. Transmission is still original and has no problems whatsoever. Car has A/C but does not work, may just need a recharge not sure, i've never had it working since i owned it. Car also had a new radiator, starter, alternator, exhaust manifold, catalytic converter, downstream O2 sensor, rear muffler, rear struts, right rear brake hose, sway bar links, sway bar bushings, fuel filler neck, right front caliper, front pads and front rotors installed in the last year to year and a half. Car does have some rust starting on the left side of the trunk lid by the taillight, some surface rust behind the left front wheel and very early stages at the behind the left rear wheel, the left front fender where the clear coat is peeling, under the front of the hood and by the window belt molding on the passenger side. Paint on it is fair at best, it is starting to fade in places and some of the clear coat has come off on the left front fender. Interior is in pretty good shape for the age and miles of this vehicle, has the factory Neon carpeted floor mats in it. Has a Pioneer CD player with removable face that works fine along with Pioneer speakers in the doors and rear deck. Car has no water leaks in the trunk like some of these cars get. Front license plate bracket is broken on one side but stays on the car no problem. Glass is in good shape, no cracks, some scratches in from the window track from both doors and the windshield is starting to get that blasted look from many miles of driving. Headlight assemblies were swapped out a few years ago replacing the hazed over factory ones with diamond clear assemblies from TYC, they are DOT legal lenses. Wheels on the car are factory accessory polished 15" RT wheels, they are starting to corrode around the center caps which are corroded as well. Tires are Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 195/60R15 that are somewhat worn but probably good for another season or so. Car also comes with a set of snow tires on factory steel rims with factory wheel covers on them. They are probably good for another season or as well. Up until i took it off the road this car was my daily driver year round, i've put about 75k miles on it since i bought it. During the summer i averaged around 32mpg and in the winter around 28mpg. Best i ever got with this car was about 36mpg.
