Vehicle Detail
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, PROFESSIONALLY RESTORED, RED, C-CODE, 1965 FORD MUSTANG FASTBACK....READY TO SHOW OR GO!! GORGEOUS TO LOOK AT AND DRIVES AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS!! THIS BEAUTIFUL '65 PONY FASTBACK ARRIVED TO OUR STABLE RECENTLY FROM ITS PREVIOUS OWNER IN NORTH CAROLINA WHO PROFESSIONALLY RESTORED IT 3 YEARS AGO. HE HAD OWNED MANY CLASSIC MUSTANGS BEFORE AND SAID THIS CAR WAS EXTREMELY RUST FREE AND NEEDED ONLY A COSMETIC RESTORATION WHICH HE HAD DONE TO A VERY HIGH STANDARD. HE ALSO MADE SURE THE CAR WAS IN TOP NOTCH MECHANICAL CONDITION SO THAT HE AND HIS WIFE COULD DRIVE IT TO THE LOCAL SHOWS AND CRUISE INS. THIS CLASSIC CAN BE DRIVEN, ENJOYED AND WILL BRING HOME ITS SHARE OF TROPHIES AT THE LOCAL SHOWS IF THAT IS WHAT YOU ENJOY. I DROVE THIS CAR ABOUT 30 MILES YESTERDAY IN 90 DEGREE ATLANTA HEAT AND IT RUNS FANTASTIC, HANDLES GREAT, AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY OF THE TYPICAL RATTLES OF THE OLDER PONIES. IF YOU HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR A VERY ORIGINAL, EXTREMELY STRAIGHT, RUST FREE 1965 FORD MUSTANG FASTBACK THEN SIT BACK AND ENJOY....THIS MAY BE THE PONY FOR YOU!! I WILL DO MY BEST TO PROVIDE ENOUGH PICTURES AND VIDEOS AND AN HONEST DESCRIPTION TO HELP YOU DECIDE IF THIS IS THE PONY TO BRING HOME TO YOUR STABLE. The body on this '65 Fastback is as nice as they come without being an absolute trailer queen. This car spent much of its life in the dry, rust free climate of North Carolina and according to the previous owner he did not have to address any rust issues along the body before painting this car the beautiful shade of red you see in the pictures. Looking down the sides of the body you will find it is extremely straight and body line gaps are excellent. I do not see any signs of any patch panels, so if there was any body panel replacement done over the years it was done to a very high standard. I will not call the body flawless but it is pretty darn close. I noticed a very small air bubble on the passenger side below the rear glass where the roof begins to curve which is quite common. Other then perhaps a tiny paint chip somewhere I think you will find the body to be show ready. The overall paint quality is excellent and the car has a great stance as you will see in the pictures and we had it professionally wet sanded and buffed out recently so it needs nothing. This car was originally night mist blue however you will not see any signs of the original color. The rear valance was changed to accommodate the GT style dual trumpet exhaust. Chrome trim, bumpers all look fantastic. Glass looks excellent and windows roll up and down nicely. This is a gorgeous example of the 1965 Pony Fastbacks! Here is a walk around tour of the body and at the end of the description is a Video walk around as well. Open the door and slide inside the beautiful black standard interior of this Fastback and you will think you are back in the Ford Dealership showroom in 1965. The entire interior looks fantastic! Dash pad, carpeting, head liner, door panels, everything looks great!! The center console looks new and the gauges are all crystal clear and everything works!A Custom Auto Sound Digital AM/FM was installed in the original radio spot and speakers were neatly placed int he front kick panels. This is a great system and you can easily add a cd changer to it if desired. The odometer currently reads 450 miles and we believe it had just turned over recently so it is at 100,450. Interior pics came out a little dark but if you watch the video walk around tour at the end of the listing you will get a brighter look at it. Here is a look inside: Pop the hood and you will see the original C-Code 289 V8 slightly dressed up with chrome valve covers and air cleaner. The motor was completely gone through 3 years ago and nicely upgraded to an Edelbrock Performer 289 Intake and 4bbl carburetor. A nice set of headers were also added and this car truly performs like an A-code 289 would. It pulls very strong and drives very smooth!! The C-4 Automatic transmission was also rebuilt and shifts strong and smooth. Great soft rumble from the dual exhaust exiting through the GT style rear valance. Front suspension was redone and although it is manual steering it is a breeze to steer and drives nice and straight. Manual drum brakes were also adjusted and stop this car well when needed. Radiator was replaced recently and this Pony runs nice and cool. The styled steel wheels look close to new and the Dual Redline Radial tires are also almost brand new. As you will see in the pictures below the original door tag was removed when the car was painted 3 years ago and replaced with a reproduction door tag that shows the current color. The original vin # stamping is present on the drivers side inner fender as shown. If you are looking for a turn key classic Mustang Fastback that you can jump in and drive today with no worries then this is the right one for you!! I WANT TO EMPHASIZE WHAT A GREAT RUNNING CAR THIS FASTBACK IS!!! DROVE IT YESTERDAY ABOUT 30 MILES IN 90 DEGREE HEAT AND IT RAN COOL AND WAS A JOY TO DRIVE. VERY TIGHT, NO RATTLES AND HANDLES THE ROAD EFFORTLESSLY AT ALL SPEEDS! The inside of the trunk is nicely detailed and rock solid. As you can see in the pics below you can see the original spot welds in the trunk pan. Correct original trunk mat and spare tire are in place. Floorpans and frame rails are also in fantastic condition and were were lightly undercoated at the time of restoration 3 years ago. This was a Southern car and it really shows when you look underneath. Newer exhaust running from headers back to the dual trumpet tips. Exhaust has a nice tone but not too loud as you will hear in the video of the car running below. This Fastback is rock solid everywhere you look!! No surprises! HERE IS A WALK AROUND VIDEO AND A SHORT VIDEO SO YOU CAN HEAR THIS PONY START UP AND RUN ( HIT THE ARROW TO START THE VIDEO AND YOU CAN ENLARGE IT AS WELL): Here is a short video of it running: Hopefully you will agree that this is one sweet looking '65 MUSTANG FASTBACK!!! This car truly looks as good in person as it does in the pictures and it is a real head turner! This will be a great investment that you can drive, enjoy and take to the shows if you want.
