For sale is my rare 1988 Toyota Pickup single cab 4x4 . It has the 22RE EFI 4 cylinder engine with a 5-speed manual transmission. History: I purchased the truck in the end of January of this year. I believe it had 258k miles. The truck needed a new head gasket at the time of the purchase. The previous owner had the engine completely rebuilt 2.5 years ago along with a rebuilt of the transmission. We seldom use the truck since we purchased a 4-door tacoma for our growing family. I have spent around $1800 on the truck since I have owned it. I wanted the truck to be mechanically solid. Here is what I done with the truck: Completed within the lasts 1000 miles 1) Brand new, not remanufactured head cylinder. Comes complete with NEW cam, springs, valves, retainers, locks, bolts and valve seals. Also new head gasket. 2) New drive belts3) New thermostat4) New spark plugs5) Fresh coolant and engine oil6) New water pump7) New catalytic converter 8) All new KYB shocks all around9) Upgraded used oem wheels10) New rear brake shoes11) Mahogany wood steering wheel I still have the old cylinder head which will be given to the buyer if desired. The truck runs great and strong with smooth shifting transmission. There are no overheating issues with the truck and is very dependable. The 4WD engages without any problems. There are no leaks that I noted. There are no grinding or pop-outs with the transmission. Mechanically the truck is very solid. The exterior still has the original paint with original decals. The paint has some imperferctions but in good shape for the age and the body is straight. It is very hard to find this year toyota truck with original paint and decals. This is the last year made of this body style. The tires are in need of changing in the next 5000 miles. The brakes are in good shape without any noises. The back brake shoes were changed 400 miles ago. In the interior, the seats are bucket seats. It has an upgraded CD player and speakers on each door panel. The headliner is intact and clean. The truck did not come with power steering or A/C. It does have heater which works. Overall this is one clean truck with a solid engine. These trucks are harder to come by and they are very much sought for. A great combination of a single cab 4x4 with the infamous 22re engine. The truck has a clear CA title in my name and possession. It has current registration till October 2012.
