Vehicle Detail
1973 Triumph TR6, Carmine Red w/Black interior. Factory Overdrive. I purchased the car in 1989 as the third owner. Engine was pulled and rebuilt at 89K (Previous owner) and runs great. I bought this car with the intention of doing a complete body off restoration and just don't have the space or time, so for 23 years I've just enjoyed driving it on nice days and tinkering with it. A great car to work on, I've taken great pride in the upkeep and keeping it running like a top. It's been to many shows on the east coast and it's never let me down. Engine rebuilt at 89K. Engine kept in stock configuration with all 1973 emission controls and fittings. Has point type ignition (comes with Pertronics that I never installed). Reproduction Green hoses. All hydraulics rebuilt and silicone fluids used since. Less than 200 miles since new water pump fitted, front brake rotors and pads replaced, and new rear hubs from Richard Good (Good Parts) put on to replace factory units. I still have the original hubs and they are in great shape, but one was leaking grease and I decided to fix the wink link. The hubs were over $700 alone! Since I've had the car all the suspension has been off and all rubber components replaced. Suspension and frame is in great shape. As mentioned, it has the factory overdrive that works in 3rd and 4th gears. Carbs have been rebuilt a couple of times and are one of my favorite things to work on! Yes, it leaks some oil, but not enough to required topping up. Mechanically, it's a great driver! Tires are Michelin (not Coker) redlines and are still in good shape (even the spare). Electrical, all works, though it could use a new horn contact as horn is intermittent (gotta love Lucas!) Interior has Original dash. Seats are original 73 black vinyl and there is a 1/2 tear in the passenger seat. Seat foam and diaphragms have been replaced (I have some extra seat foam). Door panels and interior panels replaced, new transmission tunnel cover and inner trim pads. I have a new center plinth cover pad (just the pad to recover the center plihtn), just never got around to installing it. Carpet is good, just not original quality. Overall, interior is good. Top was replaced in the early 90's with an original to with reflective tap and is still in great shape. Has the original convetable boot and a tonneau cover. Exterior. The paint was on it when I bought it and is lacquer that is over 30 years old. There are a couple of chips out of the drivers front fender (see pics). Over the years I have identified several areas where there is bondo, the rear valance around the taillight, the right rear fender, the right front around the headlight, and on the front of the hood. Looks like small dent repairs, but I'm not sure since this was the way I bought it. This is the stuff I wanted to set right but never got around to. Overall, it still looks great and most of the body things are only noticed when you're working on the car. The good news is that there is no rust on this car and it has been garaged since I've had it and by the previous owner, before that it was on the west coast. Frame is solid and rust free. When I rebuilt the suspension it was up on stands and frame was completely checked for rust in all of the usual spots. Frame is just dirty. I've enjoyed driving this car for over 23 years, and it is very solid, and would be a great car to either drive, or take to the next level. I'm pricing this accordingly and for the price this is a great car! It was well known at British car shows in the DC area and was driven to several Six-pack Trials. Car will come with all of the parts I've accumulated (wheel rims, interior parts, rubber parts, Trans rebuild kit...many others) and some specialized tools and manuals. For sale locally as well, I will end the auction if a local buyer comes forward. Buyer responsible for pickup or arranging transportation. Payment by certified funds due within 7 days of auction end. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions as I want to be sure to provide the best description as I can to any potential buyers. If anyone is in the DC area and wants to check the car out in person, just send me an e-mail. On Aug-01-12 at 14:32:02 PDT, seller added the following information:I had a couple of questions about the bumpers so I added a few pics of them. The front bumper is original and the chrome is good..not show quality but that's the original chrome. Rear bumber was re-chromed before I bought the car and is much nicer...though not perfect.
