Well, its an interesting story....Our dealership purchased this vehicle from Evangeline Bank and Trust Co. at the liquidation of a management investment company. The bank was liquidating a collection of 33 vehicles surrendered to the bank in the default of a commercial loan agreement. The collection included a several BMWs, a Lotus, an Acura NSX, and other interesting and exotic vehicles. We purchased a several of these vehicles with this being one of them... We received a clean title to the vehicle from the bank, which will transfer to the vehicle's purchaser, along with the surrender documents given to us by the bank. This is a completed project car that runs and drives, but DOES need repair and tinkering. Please read entire listing before bidding and watch the video and see the photos. We were not the ones who did the engine conversion or owned the car, therefore we do NOT know all the ins and out of this car. If you have questions, we will do our best to answer them, but there is a lot we DON'T know about it. Its being auctioned as-is as it sits. 1983 Porsche 944/Corvette LT1 engine-conversion car from the Southern US (so no rust issues). Classic Red exterior with Black interior, 5spd manual transmission, BBS Gold "3-Piece" Racing Wheels Corvette LT1 Engine Conversion 10+ years ago this vehicle received a Corvette LT-1 engine transplant. Upgrades include: a mid-90's 5.7 liter Corvette LT-1 engine with stand-alone engine management, custom tubular headers, braided stainless steel lines, Edelbrock valve covers, K&N filter, Custom dual exhaust all the way back, 3-piece style 16" BBS wheels, and 210-watt Blaupunkt CD sound system. Signature Porsche 944 elements were retained, including operable pop-up headlamps, glass hatchback with spoiler, and removable roof panel. Performance Simply Put: One of the fastest cars we have ever driven. Insane power and acceleration. Accelerating and shifting through the gears is absolutely exhilarating. After a few repairs to get some kinks worked out, this is going to be an incredible sports car to own, as it is ridiculously fast and there truly is NOTHING like it on the road. Condition Vehicle is in fair to good cosmetic condition, with a clean interior, including nice Porsche bucket seats that are in good shape. The dash has some cracks and there are other signs of age on the interior. Please look at the pictures and you will get a good idea. Carpets are in good shape for the age and the Porshce logo floor mats are present. Body is ok and doesn't show any rust but does have a few dings, dents, chips, peels, etc. It looks great from 15 feet away, but upon close inspection you see the flaws. The hood has a "custom" raised area that is an amatuer quality job and the underside of the hood has "rhino liner" sprayed on it where the work was done. From the outside it looks OK but is chipping. Corvette engine runs smoothly and revs strong. Not sure exactly what year Vette it is out of, but a friend of our's who is a Vette guy said he thought from the "mid to early 90's". This thing has a real GROWL to it and sounds like a race car. One thing we noticed, and you will hear this in the video, is that the cooling fans are always on. The original oil pressure gauge is operational and shows good oil pressure when the engine is running. The 5-speed manual transmission shifts fine through all gears. This is a completed project car that runs and drives, but PLEASE REMEMBER, it has some quirks that will need to be address by the next owner. It is not a "get in and go" type of vehicle right now. We have only driven it around the block a couple times and have not significantly road tested this vehicle. Here's why.... Some of the issues include: Intermittent hard starting (sometimes fires right up, sometimes takes a few more cranks and hesitates and sputters). Runs warm when you sit and let it idle for a long time or drive slow in traffic. The electric cooling fans work, but seem to stay on all the time. Please note: While here on site, we never did let it overheat and always shut it down before the temp rose too high. So to our knowledge the engine is good and has not sustained damage from heat under our watch. There is some peeling, chipping paint (overall paint job is FAIR, not great and is showing its age) There are also undoubtly other minor undiagnosed issues and quirks such as the fuel gauge doesn't work, no air conditioning, loose shift knob, and more. We have not checked every feature and can't guarantee everything works. This is a highly modified car with an engine swapped into it so some stuff may not work. The good news is the oil pressure, tachometer, temp gauge, speedometer, do still work which is nice and not always the case on engine swaps. Motorsource, Inc. is selling this vehicle as-is. Do not expect a car that is ready to roll on day one. This is truly a car for the tinker or hobbiest and someone with good knowledge and experience working on fast cars.
