As you know Shelby stopped producing cars after 1967. the 1968 cars were built by A.O. Smith under license and the 1969- 70 cars built by Ford under license. 1967 is the first and only year Shelby actually made these Supercars. We are offering for sale 1967 Shelby GT 500 Number 00338. According to the SAAC 1967 Registrar Dave Matthews this was approximately the 130th GT 500 built in 1967. It was ordered by and shipped to Frontier Motor Sales of Niagara Falls , NY.This GT 500 was used by the dealership (most likely the dealership owners) and sold to the first owner on December 30, 1969 with 22. 284 miles. A family member sent in a registration form to the SAAC saying that after the original owner purchased the car the original engine had issues and was replaced by the dealer with a 428 Cobra Jet. Most of the info in the SAAC registry is incorrect. I have contacted the 1967 registrar and have corrected the info. The corrected information will be in the next SAAC World Registry. I have the complete file from the SAAC for this car in my possession. Never abused or wrecked. It appears to have all of the original sheet metal and fiberglass. It also appears to have the original interior except for carpet. The passenger side sunvisor is signed by Carroll Shelby. The interior is very nice except for a wear spot in the passenger side front carpet. The car has been painted twice. The paint has great color and depth. It has a few touched up chips and two places that had poor prep. They can be easily repaired. The 428 Cobra Jet was rebuilt by a past owner along with the C-6 Automatic Transmission. The rear end has just been rebuilt with a new set of 3.50 ratio ring and pinion gears, new traction loc posi unit and new pinion and carrier bearings. Less than 5 miles on the rear end. The Shelby has Hooker Headers and Flowmaster Mufflers with 2.5" pipes. The car runs and drives very well.Here is a walk around of the Shelby while it is running. The car is not as loud in person. On Jul-27-12 at 06:39:37 PDT, seller added the following information: When the dealer installed the 428 Cobra Jet they used the dual 4 barrel intake and Holley carbs (one has been replaced and is not correct) from the original engine along with the original dual point distributor. The transmission is the original factory installed unit along with the rear end. The Shelby still retains the original factory installed radiator.This is by far the best running '67 Shelby GT500 Mustang I have ever driven. I have over 25 years experience with Shelbys and over 32 years of vintage Mustang experience. This is a very nice car priced right.
