Vehicle Detail
I'm offering my 1991 Mercedes 300TE wagon for auction. It's a hard decision to part with it, but I have too many cars, and my daughter's wedding is coming up in August. I've owned the car since January of 2007, and am the second owner. I purchased the car in Massachusetts. Since then, the car has been registered in New Hampshire, which does not supply a paper title for a car this age. I have the old Mass title, which was signed over to me, as well as the most recent New Hampshire registration (the car is not currently registered). The car has been an absolute joy to own and drive. In the five years I've owned it, it's only been used in the warmer months, never seeing snow once - consequently there is NO RUST!! It was in excellent condition when I purchased it, but I have undertaken a few repairs in order to make it as perfect as possible. A detailed service history during my ownership will come with the vehicle. The paintwork and chrome are just about flawless, as is the burgundy MB Tex upholstery. The sunroof works, the headliner is perfect as are the dash and console. I added a Blaupunkt AM/FM/CD player utilizing the excellent powered speaker system available in 1991. All the power windows work as do the power door locks. There are a few very minor issues: A small stone chip or two in the windshield. I meant to have it replaced, but didn't get to it. The left headlight wiper needs to be adjusted. The power tailgate is not working properly (it does close fine). I have a good used one which will come with the car - a difficult item to find! There is a little bit of paint bubbling on the left quarter window frame, which is aluminum - a common problem with these cars (I've owned three). The rims have some minor curb rash and paint scratches. The foam hood insulator pad is coming unglued and should be replaced. Other than these few items, the car's almost flawless. I mounted 16 inch special Mercedes alloy rims, with new tires last summer. I have several Mercedes factory manuals and some spare parts I will include with the car. I hope the buyer will enjoy this beautiful car and use it carefully. It's a classic and they are quite sturdy and reliable. 1991 was the last year BEFORE the 300TE got more complicated. Later years are known for their problems, especially with the wiring harness, which can melt. Parts are very available on eBay. The 6 cylinder is turbine smooth and the car gets excellent mileage using Premium fuel. If anyone is interested in taking a short test drive, I will make it available at my location. Please ask me any questions, and I'll do my best to answer them quickly. Sorry to see it go - it's been part of the family.
