Indeed there are plenty of examples that can be had for a relative bargain and if you’ve looked at these awhile, you know the difference. Details like the bronze trim, fit and finish, stitching, and even the panel surrounding the power seat controls. Many 129s—even those with lower miles—show flaking while the seat bolsters have some wear or fading. Not so with this car. It’s a testament to how meticulously maintained and pampered the car has been. It’s evident in every aspect. Not surprisingly, the car was used only seasonally, first on Long Island then later in Vail, CO, so it never saw salt or sand on the roads. While in storage, the Gilletts had one of their expert attendants start and move the car to keeps fluids moving, prevent tire flat spots, and in general keep the car in prime condition. (You have probably heard by now that the worst thing to do to a Mercedes-Benz is too let it sit for too long—a problem you may run into with very low-mileage 129s). Today, the SL is kept in a private collection in Sarasota FL. I am an agent assisting in the sale. I am not a dealer or a broker and do not charge any additional fees fee. I'm happy to answer any questions, present offers, or arrange a showing to serious buyers. My name is Peter. Please feel free to call/text 941.914.1431 or email me with any inquiries.
