1955 Mercury Monterey 2 Door Hard Top Im selling my 1955 Mercury Monterey 2 door. I bought this car a little over 2 years ago and built it as a mild custom/hot rod style build. The car is very solid and a lot of body work went into this build. All 4 floor pans were replaced, the drivers side rear quarter was completely replaced with a solid panel from california, the lower passenger quarter panel was replaced, the passenger door and drivers front fender also replaced with solid panels. The passenger side rocker was also replaced. The car was painted last fall with hot rod flatz. The body is not perfect (minor imperfections) but it is very, very solid. The frame is solid as are all the body mounts (2 have been replaced). The car is nosed, decked and rear side trim is shaved. The engine is a bone stock 292 Y-block that was pulled from a 59 Edsel with 44k miles. Its mated to a stock 3 speed transmission and now has a floor shift. The clutch will need to be replaced soon, but it is still drivable as is. The motor runs very strong and does not smoke or burn any oil. It has a small oil leak coming from the rear of the motor (I believe it is the oil pan gasket). It has a new fuel pump, coil, distributer cap, rotor, points, plugs and wires. The car is lowered in the rear with re-arched springs and 2" lowering blocks. The front is lowered with front coil spring out of a 1950 Ford. Brand new Coker Classic wide whites with less than 300 miles on them. The interior needs work, the seats are in rough shape as well as the door panels (I have them all, but upholstery is rough). It needs a headliner and carpet. The whole car has been rewired with a rebel wiring harness, complete with fuses, relays, ect. 12 Volt System. The chrome is driver quality, solid but faded in spots. The brakes have all been rebuilt. All new wheel cylinders, brake shoes, and spring kits. All the brake lines are new. All the glass is there, but the drivers and passenger front windows are cracked. The window mechanisms are all there but need a little work to get them working correctly. All in all this car is a good solid driver and with minor work could be a high quality car. I also have fender skirts that are in great shape and painted to match the car.
