Vehicle Detail

The first comment that we get about this car is how awesome it looks and how amazing the condition is for 1993 (or any year for that matter). The 2nd thing they are amazed about is how great it runs and how quiet and smooth it is. And then they find out that there is 230k on the odometer. From the interior, to the body and the paint, to the engine, the brakes and suspension, this looks and feels like a mistake. We have never seen a car with this mileage in this amazing condition. Period!! In addition, it runs as strong as a car with 50k one it and has virtually no significant wear or damage on a single component. If you see and drive this car, you will want to buy this car!! It’s that simple. Seeing this car in person will truly be believing. No exaggerations. For those of you who are familiar with the 400E, you already know that this is the cousin of the Porsche factory assembled 500E super car. I have driven both and I assure you that this 400E aint far off the 500E in go juice! It’s faster than most people would want to go; it has all of the steering, suspension and the brakes of the 500E and gets better fuel economy. To be honest, this is not an everyday, commuter car. It may well be the fastest car you can buy for the money…period!! The incredible and super smooth power of this motor is simply amazing. This car goes 0-60 in 7 seconds (some other tests say 6.8) and will keep going to just under 150 mph. It also handles like a sports car and stops better owing to the upgrade and larger than stock brakes. This car cost over $57,000.00 in 1993 and one ride around the block and one look in person will show you why. It’s a classic Mercedes with the right grill and body shape and it was all made in Stuttgart (not any more). After nearly 20 years, the quality of parts, materials, assembly and design shows through. You will never see an American or Japanese car that has held up as well in nearly two decades. Only the headliner has any problem (no tears) and is loose in spots and needs to be reglued. The wood trim is excellent (no cracks just a little finish fade) and the rugs are in excellent condition as is all of the interior small trim pieces (vents, mirror, handles and etc.) The pictures are accurate, this car looks this good!! As you can see from the interior and engine pictures, this car was meticulously cared for and primarily highway driven and always garage kept. The metallic black paint is simply amazing and shines like new. The only damage is a small crease in the passenger’s rear quarter panel which car is easily repaired with paint less dent removal. This car is currently and always has been garage kept. This being one of the most important factors in its incredible condition. RECENT UPDATES- Recent full tune up, new power steering pump, new Michelin tires, updated fuel lines, full services including all filters, oil and fluid changes and air filters. New brakes (two front rotors and all new shoes). New headlight doors and some new trim pieces. This car also had a recent radiator and it runs very cool. The A/C is ice cold and the heat works perfectly (as does all the other features). There is not a whole lot else that had to be done because the previous owner (and the one before him) maintained the car so well. The car simply runs handles, rides and stops like a newer car. It is an exceptional driver and it is one bad to the bone running and looking car. You will not find a better one at twice the price!! Extensive mechanical improvements as listed! ENGINE COMPARTMENT- The compartment is unusually clean and undamaged. This is a lot of engine in a mid size car. It has no evidence of old oil deposits, battery spray or discoloration. Engine and wiring are very clean and well maintained as are all of the shrouding, covers and lines. Final thoughts- This 400-E is like driving a new car! The engine and trans are superb because of the high level of maintenance and great care they always received. The previous owners have always maintained this car to the highest standard and it shows in looks and performance. However, do not buy this car if you want it as a daily driver or a commuter car. This is a very high performance car in incredible shape, but has relatively high mileage. If you want this to take to shows, drive on the weekends (or on dates) or take out the family on occasion, then its going to be a great car for you. If you want to put 500 miles or more a week on it, then get something else and you won’t be mad at us. The current owner put 6000 miles on this car in 6 years and loves it. He is selling it only because he has four other Mercedes. If you want a lot of bang for your buck and incomparable looks, this car is for you. If you are close to Rockville, Md. (and or the D.C. area in general) then we encourage you to come see the car in person. This is a 19 year old car and in most states it will qualify for very inexpensive antique or vintage vehicle tags as of 2013. Insurance for this car (according to the current owner) is not expensive. . Good luck with your bidding & we are confident that you will not be disappointed with the amazing condition, the mechanical soundness and the awesome performance of this exceptional and classic Mercedes 400-E.
