Vehicle Detail

This 1987 Turbo 300D Turbo Diesel Mercedes had one previous owner, and was titled within our family. It has been a very reliable car. The story as many of you know with this model is that the head has blown. Overheated and then lost compression. Rather than hold on to it another year, I have decided to put it up for sale. The Body has grill damage in the front, and the passenger side light front is missing the corner light from an accident. The driver side has a deep scratch/dent from a snowstorm where it scrape against a utility box. The hood is bent near the front and needs total makeover. All glass is in good shape. The Inside is in excellent shape, dashboard is perfect as well as interior, except the passenger window control unit, that seems to slip out of place sometimes, but all windows and components are/were working. The Seats are in "like new condition", back seat was seldom even used, additionally there are 4 floor mats. The Engine prior to the "Blown Head" (at least that is what I was told, and that it needed a new engine, could be rebuilt with the correct tooling) the car ran great and was getting 38 mpg and was fast. The rest of the mechanics of the engine were fine, as I always had them checked and usually it was a complex electrical problem linked to a simple fuse. The glow plug on my last charge of the battery still lit up, but it definitely does not turn over. The Tires are Michelin MXV4 Plus 65's and there the spare is a full-size, good shape with decent amount of tread and it does have alloy wheels on all 5 tires. Includes original crank Jack. The Exhaust System was repaired and the suspension was also repaired originally to get it to pass Maryland inspection. There is a rubber connector where the exhaust system attached to the bottom of car, and every so often it needs to be pushed back into place. The Brakes and mechanical parts are relatively new and have zero issues. The Headlights and other component lights, aside from the passenger corner light, are good. The car has original Radio (probably needs resetting since the battery was out as it is some control that was built in by mercedes - the dealer used a tool to do that periodically at no cost), the sunroof works although a bit slow, wood trim inside still looks good. The Radiator, of which I had pulled out and put back inside originally, is in good shape based on my review. The Parts on the car (Transmission (never had a problem with it) - can cost up to $2,000, engine related components (starter, alternator, etc, and body parts) will net the parts enthusiast a good amount of money if they have the time and tools, as this model parts are diffcult to come by. Also, if you have a similar model and just want to use it for parts it may be a good idea. Other questions just ask, or if you need a picture of a specific item let me know. Deposit of $500 due at close of auction, remainder due within 3 days. Buyer is reponsible for figuring out how to ship, and seller will make reasonable accomodations to work with whoever picks up. On Jul-02-12 at 06:28:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Rust: I have added some pictures of where I see rust on the car. The drivers side drainhole(picture), and there is very small spot on another drainhole. I did not see any on the body, aside from the scratches on roof and front hood (pictures) will need some obvious refinishing, especially the hood; and there is a small spot on the driverside passenger door (picture), and then on the trunk edge (picture).
