Vehicle Detail
Beautifully restored '40 Ford Convertible. This is a totally stock show car. Please take a look at the photos. I have many more if you would like me to e-mail them to you. Everything has been done, and done correctly with mostly all original parts. There were very few reproduction parts used. No corners were cut anywhere, from the Labarron Bonney interior to the Columbia and the gourgous original color maroon paint. Everything was done to original. It drives as nice as it looks, and with the Columbia Overdrive, it cruises easily at highway speeds. My father first bought the '40 back in '73. It needed paint, but being a life long California car, it never had any rust, so there has never been any rust repair. It has never needed it. Dad had it painted and then drove it for years. I grew up going on tours in the '40. In the early eighties he sold it to Dave Heath, another guy in the Early Ford V-8 Club. Dave did a total frame off restoration but died before the interior and top were done. He did an absolutely incredible paint job. My dad bought it back from his widow, finished it, and showed it for several years. It won many shows. I inherited it in '98, but now I need money, so I'm selling it. It's a beautiful car and I will miss it. You'll be very hard pressed to find a nicer '40 Convertible. The reserve and the buy it now are quite a bit less than the $82, 610 NADA claims it's worth or the Old Cars Price Guide value of $79,000. It's also advertised in Hemmings. I reserve the right to end this auction early if someone buys it. The restoration was completed in the late eighties. The forty was displayed at The Towe Ford Museum/Towe Auto Museum/California Auto Museum, and was shown quite a bit on the west coast until 1998 when I inherited it. Since then I've shown it a few times and driven it on some club tours and parades, but mostly it's been kept in a nice warm and dry garage. The guys who have come to see it have said I was underselling the car and that the restoration was really much nicer than they expected. It is very nice. The underside looks nicer than the top side of most cars. Pull up the carpet or the trunk mat and you'll find as beautiful a finish as is on the outside. The things you can't see were done right. This restoration was done to perfection. Please call me, Steve Walker at 916-448-2268 if you have any questions or would like to come and see it in Sacramento California. Sacramento International Airport is just 15 minutes away. Good luck! Shipping Price Estimator What is your Delivery Zipcode? powered by
