The AACA Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania is offering a 1955 DeSoto Firedome 4-door Sedan for auction sale. The term Firedome refers to the Hemi (hemispherical combustion chamber) engine. This car is the 2nd generation body style and was only offered from 1955-56. The car has 108,870 miles on it with the the original 291 cubic inch (4.8L) V-8 engine and is light blue in color. The car was repainted a few years ago for a movie rental. The original order and invoice for the vehicle are also included. The car was owned by one family and is in overall good condition. It does have some sun damage on the rear deck behind the seats. The seats also have the normal wear expected for the car's age but are covered with plastic seat covers.The car has many of the options from the period that include an automatic transmission, heater and AM push button radio, but no power steering. The car is running, but should be thoroughly gone through before putting it on the road. The DeSoto is accurately represented in the photographs but interested parties are encouraged to ask questions and/or schedule a personal inspection. The vehicle is offered as, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. It has a valid Pennsylvania Title which will be transferred to the new owner upon successful completion of this auction with verified payment. Shipping and transportation of the car are the responsibility of the new owner. We will gladly work with you or the shipper/transporter of your choice to coordinate the move. The new owner will have two weeks from the completion of the auctionto pick up the vehicle, otherwise a storage fee will be charged. Payment must be made within four business days after the auction's close in the form of a cashier's/bank check or bank wire transfer. Payment will require clearing through the Museum's bank account before the car and title will be released.
