                                                                                                                1960 Austin-Healey BT7 MKI                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------                                                                                                    This is a 1960 Austin Healey BT7 MK I.  It has been completely restored (frame off restoration) including a new frame, tub, fenders, interior and engine reconditioned by Tom Mason, a Healey specialist at Quality Coaches in Minneapolis in 1997.  Parts not replaced, but refurbished include the aluminum cowling, hood and trunk lid.  I would estimate 70% of the parts were replaced. The car was featured in the December 1997 issue of Austin Healey magazine where it was referred to as the “The 1997 Austin Healey." It has a totally new all blue leather interior and carpeting plus new convertible top, convertible assembly, tonneau cover and side curtains.  In the trunk is a spare with another Michelin ZX and the original painted wire wheel, lead hammer, jack without crank, and car cover. The odometer reads 57970 miles.  Since the restoration was completed in 1997 it has mostly been in indoor storage.  There was some light driving in 1998 and a 500 mile trip several years ago, so it has well under 1000 miles on it since the restoration. The car operates and drives well although it could benefit from a tune up.  The electronic overdrive works perfectly in both 3rd and 4th gear.  The car has 5 Michelin ZX radials with under 1500 miles on them using tubes with four 48 spoke chrome wire wheels and one original painted spoke wheel for the spare. The engine was bored, the cylinder head, crank, camshaft, lifters, rods were reconditioned and many parts were replaced.  There is a minor oil leak.  The transmission has always been sound and shifts cleanly.  The brakes are good. Turn signals operate although the right turn signal is a bit erratic and should be examined and the automatic return generally does not work. The wiring harness was replaced.  The generator was just refurbished and works well now and the Lucas starter is brand new with a 12 month warranty.  The battery was tested and is strong.  There is a small voltage drop at the rear switch that should be fixed. Included are a number of books and manuals including an original BJ8 manual.  It does not have the original BT7 manual.  I put a book together with all of the paperwork, all receipts and a number of pictures of the car dating back to 1983 including before and after restoration photos. There is some misalignment between the doors and the rear fender on each side.  Although mechanically sound, the misalignment can be seen on close inspection (see photos below).  The hood and the trunk lid seams also show misalignment (see photos below).  These problems are generally not noticed from 10 feet.  Also shown in the photos are problems with 2 paint chips, dented stainless steel beading and paint cracking on left door.
