Vehicle Detail

I've owned, loved, and cared for this 1969 Cougar XR-7 since 1988. It has lived in California its entire life. I have a 2-car garage and recently got married, so we have now have 3 cars vying for a 2-car garage. I refuse to park my Cougar in the street, so I guess the Cougar has to go. This car runs great! There’s nothing like the throaty sound of a V-8 when you put the pedal to the metal. Please click the below link to see and hear the engine running: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BA7vnKQiZ78&feature=youtu.be It was used as a daily driver for several years with most of the mileage being California freeway driving. This non-smoker vehicle has been extremely well maintained (maintenance and service records from when I owned the vehicle from 1988 to present are available upon request). I had a crate engine professionally installed 14,500 miles ago (by the Dyno Shop in Santee California where they take pride in everything they do) and had a transmission overhaul performed at the same time. New brakes all around were installed only 7,300 miles ago, with a new brake master cylinder being installed 26,000 miles ago. New calipers for the front brakes were installed and the air-conditioning system was retrofitted to R134 refrigerant 26,100 miles ago. New shocks were installed front and rear and new real leather seat covers were installed 33,100 miles ago. Features include: - 351 cubic inch V-8 Windsor engine - 4 BBL Holley carburetor - Edelbrock intake manifold - Dual exhausts - Uses 89 octane unleaded gas - Exempt from California smog check - Automatic transmission - Power steering - Power brakes - Remote drivers mirror - Bucket seats - Air conditioning - Always garaged in dry-climate California - Clifford anti-theft system - Outstanding Alpine AM/FM/Cassette/CD stereo system with Alpine 6-CD changer in trunk - Vacuum headlight covers work fine – no vacuum leaks - Sequential turn signals completely functional (had a solid-state retrofit of relays) - All instrument gages work - Interior lights work - Clock mechanism replaced and clock actually works! - Dash is in good shape – not cracked from the sun - Vinyl roof in great shape - Leather upholstery replaced and looks wonderful (please see photos) - Headliner replaced and still in excellent condition - Carpet replaced and still in great condition - Have shop manuals and electrical wiring diagrams - Original CA gold-on-blue license plates (front and back) - Clear CA title with registration good to June 2013 Other stuff: - The passenger window has some wind noise – the window needs to be realigned (the glass will need to be either unglued and re-glued in the window channel or replaced) - There is a small rust spot on the lower front corner of passenger door (please see attached photo) - The speedometer cable needs to be replaced (I have a replacement speedometer cable) as the speedometer oscillates at low speeds - The color is the original light yellow color (repainted once) with the original black interior (which is in excellent condition). There are some very minor nicks in the paint. Potential buyers are welcome to have the vehicle inspected at their own time and expense prior to the close of sale. Please note that shipping costs are not included – the buyer is responsible for either local pickup of the vehicle or to arrange for professional shipping of the vehicle and to pay for any related shipping costs. This Cougar XR-7 looks sharp, runs strong, is loaded with options that operate well, and it still delivers the true factory performance that made this car unique. The car is straight and nice -- it could be used for a nice tight daily driver or for cruise-ins. It looks and runs great – it’s a real head-turner and gets a lot of attention wherever it goes. I am happy to answer any questions or provide additional photos. Please e-mail questions to me at: Cool_1969_Cougar_XR7@yahoo.com or call me (John T.) at 858-279-4718. Thank you for your interest in this classic car and happy bidding!
