Vehicle Detail
1986 Honda Civic DX Hatchback The odometer reads 169,403 miles, but this car had a used imported takeout motor from Japan with unknown mileage (on average 50,000mi) installed around 155,492 miles. The motor also had the timing belt, water pump, radiator, and clutch replaced at that time (around 2002). I did not own the car when this work was done, but I have the receipts for the work and will include them with the sale of the car. The 1.5 liter EW-C engine also has a Redline Weber DGEV conversion kit installed. The original air cleaner was modified to fit the Weber carb for a stock look, and the EGR was left functional. This cleaned up the engine compartment considerably, and remedied all of the typical problems these cars have with the original carburetors, vacuum control boxes, and emissions systems. The carb only requires some simple jet tuning to accomodate a "bog" that is experienced at full throttle. This car also has the optional 5 speed manual transmission. Mechanically, the car is very sound - I recently drove it from Seattle, WA to San Diego, CA without a single problem (other than the full throttle "bog") and got 28-30 mpg. The car also has new front brake pads and new rear drums and shoes, all installed this year. The tires still have plenty of tread on them and the car drives very straight. The body has light dents and dings, as well as the clear coat failing as illustrated in the photos. All electrical components are in working condition. The interior is complete and in nice shape, other than fading of the plastic components, worn carpet, small tears on both corners of the back seat, worn front seat bottom cushions (from a later Accord), and small gouges in the headliner. There is a crack going across the bottom of the windshield and a bigger rock chip on the drivers side. As a disclaimer, the reason I'm selling the car is the fact that it failed the smog test required for registration in California, mostly due to the Weber carburetor, and lack of original emissions equipment. I made these modifications when I lived in Washington state and the car wasn't required to pass any kind of emissions test. It would be too costly for me to return the car to it's original equipment at this point, and I'd rather just sell it to someone who can enjoy it in an area that doesn't require emissions testing, or someone who wants to make the necessary changes to register it in California. This car is sold as-is with no warranty or guarantees Buyer pays all shipping costs and is responsible for arranging pick-up and/or transport of the car I have a clear Washington state title
