Vehicle Detail
This listing is for a 2000 Dodge Caravan ES. We bought the Caravan brand new back in 2000 from Tysinger Motors in Hampton, Va. The car was given ALL required and necessary checkups and maintenance at Tysinger over the years and have all original documentation. The title is clean and has never had any issues whatsoever. And up until a couple years ago this car was in absolutely perfect condition thanks to a decade of pampering. Features: on this ES include all original: 5 doors (2 front, 2 passenger, trunk)7 passenger seating, grey leather interior and seats, quad seating (four bucket seats) and third row bench, premium sound system with sub-woofer, fog lights, rear sport spoiler, privacy glass on all rear windows, power everything (windows, doors, front seats), alloy wheels, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, rear A/C, audio and speed controls on steering wheel, floor mats throughout, auto-dimming mirror with Homelink, and more.Damage: is as follows. From the pictures listed you can see all the damage that exists with this car. First off is the purely aesthetic issue associated with the large scratch on the driver's side passenger door and rear. This occurred in November of 2009 due to a battle with an ATM machine (the metal receipt slot got lodged into the vehicle (visible where the whole is) and then proceeded to drag along the rear creating the deep scratch). As soon as the incident occurred the van was taken to Harmon's auto-body repair in Hampton and was sealed up with a sealant (lifetime warranty if anybody cares) to prevent any type of rusting. The second and actually annoying damage is that beautiful dent on the rear portion of the trunk (driver's side again). This beauty mark was received back in March of 2010 when our neighbor backed into our van with their Nissan Titan and more importantly its trailer hitch. The truck didn't have a scratch and we were left with this. Instead of worrying about getting it repaired or making a big deal out of it with the neighbors (in hindsight not the smartest decision) we decided not to worry about. However, thanks to where the trunk was hit the locking mechanism for the trunk is jammed and therefore won't open. Now this has not been any issue for us rather just an annoyance because all the rear seats (captains' seats and 3rd row bench) if you want to store or transport large items (including furniture). Since the two incidents the van has really only been used as a hauling vehicle (kids going back and forth to college) and as a driving to work vehicle.Current Condition: brings us to why we have finally decided to sell our once beloved Caravan. We no longer need the van and have decided to part ways mainly impart to just simply wanting to go ahead and get another vehicle and having no need to keep this one around. Besides for the aesthetic damage listed above the car is 12 years old and obviously shows sign of its age. As the picture of the ceiling shows the the lining is starting to come down and though this is not a necessity by any means to have repaired just want to mention it because aesthetically its just one of those things. Another only aesthetic blemish is that the passenger side front seat has a tear in bottom cushion. More pressing issues though are that the tires need to be replaced (have almost no tread left), the suspension will need work within the next couple years, the brakes need to be replaced and a few other minor maintenance checks (i.e. the battery). However, even with all this needed maintenance the overall condition of the car (transmission, engine, electrical, etc.) is still in great condition and the only things that need work are the usual wear and tear items. In conclusion (for those of you who are still reading and hopefully interested) Tysinger quoted us with a total fix-up price for all the needed maintenance at $1400 (tires, brakes, and all other current maintenance work) and with this being a more premium dealership in terms of maintenance (although we have always felt they were worth it) you could get all the work completed by a place like Treadquarters, etc. for under $900. In the end I know this sounds like the car needs a lot of work and in some cases that maybe true but I can say once the fix-ups are complete the vehicle should be good for another 100k as long as it is maintained as was the case up to this point. And even with the work required KBB still lists the car in fair condition which prices around $3600 for FAIR condition (seems a bit high though even with this Caravan being the top of the line one for its time). I also want to let you know if anyone is currently looking for parts for there Caravan especially the seats (middle or rear rows) feel free to send an email or request about what you need if you think this Caravan has it. Lastly, I just want to say please contact me if you have any questions regarding this vehicle and I would be happy to answer them in detail. Thanks. Shipping Info: I prefer not to ship the item unless absolutely necessary and would prefer any interested buyer to actually come and see the Caravan before purchasing. Please contact me before placing a bid if you plan on having the vehicle shipped.
