You are bidding on a 1971 VW Deluxe Transporter Bay Window Bus. This is the last year of the upright engine and the first year of front disk brakes making it a sought after year model. I purchased this Bus from the same owner of 27 years who bought it from the original owner making me the third owner. I have owned the bus for 3 years. The bus is in original and unmolested condition. The 1600 dual port engine runs strong and will cruise at 65-70. All original interior in great condition as you can see from the photos. I have receipts for the maintenance on this vehicle dating back to the 1970's. The previous owner had a new engine put it approximately 16k miles ago. As you can see from the photos the bus does have some minimal rust in the common places but is in no way a rust bucket like many that are out there on the road. Included will be new rubber for the sliding door and I have recently put new rubber in the back hatch. The muffler is about a year old installed by Hans Foreign Auto here in Portland. Hans did much of the maintenance on this vehicle over the years. The 2 rear tires are new with less than a 1000 miles on them. The 2 front tires have about 75 percent left on them. The lights and turn signals all work as does the emergency flasher. The pictures speak for themselves but please ask any and all questions and i will be happy to answer. Note that the windshield has some scraping from the wiper on the passengers side. The wiper was replaced and both work as they should. If you are looking for a completely restored Bus then this is not it but if your are looking for an all original clean and unmolested bus then this might be the one for you. Selling because I bought an VW Westfalia and cant keep them both although I would like to. I would not think twice about driving this bus anywhere. I drive it often to work so it definitely can be a daily driver. Note that I may offer it for sale locally or on other sites so reserve the right to end the auction early if no longer available. It is just what the odometer currently reads. The paint is original to my knowledge other than the nose where the previous owner had a minor dent repaired. The paint does show signs of fading so one would think it to be original. Note that I am not interested in shipping overseas. I will help arrange for shipping in the states. Drove the Bus yesterday and realized I did not mention that the lock cylinder on the drivers door will need to be replaced. The passenger side unlocks with a few jiggles. All other doors/ hatch lock and unlock. The drivers side plastic heat/ air vent is cracked. The radio works but the antenna was broken going through a car wash so no reception. These are all easy fix items. Just want to be sure they are known to buyer. I have been asked if I would drive this Bus across country and the answer is yes. Although it is impossible for me to forsee any issues with a 41 year old Bus I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. It has never left me stranded, broken down or had any issues since I have owned it with the exception of the flasher relay which is now new and a dead battery because I left the radio on. Oh yeah. The battery is new as well. 6 mos. old. I have taken the bus to Eugene ,Or and then to Blue River, Or many times to see family. 300 mile round trips. Regular oil changes. There are 3 days left and I have lowered the reserve to 5000.00. I suspect the Bus will sell for somewhere between 5500 or 6k. A few hundred more if someone really wants it based on supply and demand in you area. I will not end the auction early with a Buy It Now out of fairness to those who are bidding/ watching. I did not list the Bus locally or other sites for the same reason. Please ask any questions before the auction ends as you are bidding to Buy the Bus. This is not an 8k Bus so dont bid that high. I thought one of the photos I posted showed the three small rust spots on the slider at the window rubber. Apparently I only posted the windshield one.
