Vehicle Detail

This is my prized 1971 Porsche 914. I hate to sell it but it has to go. The car is virtually rust free! Very rare for a 914! The odometer shows 37204 miles which I'm sure is 137,204. The odometer has quit working so there are more miles on the car than showing. The car is gorgeous and gets a lot of attention. I drive it once or twice a week and will miss it greatly. The car has been converted to dual carbs. The radio is a fully operational am/fm/8track player. Yes, an 8 track player. I will include some 8 tracks with the sale. The car is blast to drive. Pull off the top, pop in an 8 track tape and cruise around. The bad: leaks oil (believe it is from rear main seal) first gear does not work. speedo/odometer not working The not so bad: fuel pump runs off toggle switch some small nicks/rock chips in paint heater is not installed The good: Virtually rust free Battery tray is solid Lights go up and down as they should Good Michelin tires Good clean interior Cloth seats This car is one of the nicer 914's out there. It is very hard to find one with no rust like this. The car would need repairs to oil leak and first gear to be mechanically sound and reserve price is set low to account for those repairs. The car can be driven as is and that is how I have been driving it. I will assist with shipping as needed. The car has been described honestly, and I will answer any questions you may have. If you are local and want to see the car in person, I would welcome the chance to show you the car. This car is sold as is. No warranty. On Jun-04-12 at 15:07:29 PDT, seller added the following information:I wanted to go over the car and list everything that I could find wrong with it so there are no surprises. In addition to what is listed already, this is what i could find: a few rock chips in paint. ( I drive it weekly) 1-2" crack in dash under heater controls. 2" rip in driver seat by headrest doors only open from inside handles. ($15 part to fix) original 1971 texas license plates are starting to rust windshield wiper reservoir does not hold pressure. horn operates from push button on dash. the fire extinguisher and jack are missing but i do have the tool kit. If you are bidding on the car, please ask me questions. I am an honest person and will tell you anything I can about the car. I love this car and would rather not sell it than sell it to someone that will not be happy with it. The major things are the oil leak and first gear. The reserve reflects the needed repairs, although it can be driven, and is being driven as is now. The first gear issue started when the shifter broke off completely. When i fixed it and then replaced it, I just could not get first gear to work. May be just a linkage adjustment or it may be coincidence that they both broke at the same exact time. Please ask questions! I can be reached at 936-443-0396 but I am very hard to get on the phone. I work 12 hour days and do not have the opportunity to answer my phone at work. So please leave a message or email me.
