Vehicle Detail
Here is my 1989 Ford Country Squire 8 passenger station wagon for sale. I found another hobby car, so I'm selling this one to help fund the other. This has been a GREAT car to me. It runs and drives as good as it looks. It is a Washington state car that has been garaged it's whole life and very well cared for. It was bought new by an Air Force Lt. Col. from Enumclaw Washington who owned it for over 20 years. He bought it in Maine and drove it back - it never left the area after that. I'm the 3rd owner. The 2nd was a local family who owned it briefly and decided they needed a van. I had it looked at by a FORD mechanic who told me it has been well cared for and serviced regularly. It has all the options and they ALL WORK. Power steering, power brakes, power door locks, electric seats, cruise control, power rear window, air conditioning that blows cold, premium sound system, dual opening tail gate, automatic load leveling, etc. I have the original purchase order and bill of sale. Upon close examination, it appears that it is all original and never been in any accident or had any body work done. Passed Washington State Emmisions test in February - see picture. Runs great! It also has a trailer hitch installed. You would need the receiver part that slides into the hitch frame. EXTERIOR: The body sheet metal, undercarriage, and frame have NO RUST at all. The paint is glossy but does show some swirl marks and small imperfections from age and use. The paint can be bufffed out to eliminate most of these. The woodgrain vinyl is not faded or peeling anywhere. The oak-looking trim around the vinyl is delaminating in some areas but overall not bad. The bumpers are showing some wear but again, could be buffed back to a better shine. There is a crack in the right side header panel showing as a white spot in the front picture. I have sourced a replacement from a salvage yard in Arizona for $125 plus $65 UPS to the West Coast. The left headlight plastic-chrome bezel has a break in it, but I have a brand new one in the box that comes with the car. The grill also has a small area of a missing "tooth". There is also a new grill that comes with the car. The rear aluminum molding that is shown missing in the picture was shipped off to Iverson's in Texas for repair. It had a ding in it. I have not had the work done. I think it would be cheaper to replace it with a good used one. The molding will be shipped back to you from Iverson's if you buy the car. The aluminum trim piece that's black and below the tail window has a ding on the right side. I had a resto shop look at it and they said it was easily repaired and and the whole thing refinished can be done for $200. That's it. Very clean for a 23 year old car. The windshield has a very samll chip in it that you have to look for to notice. All glass is good. INTERIOR: 9 out of 10. No rips or tears anywhere. Carpet is great. Cargo mat in the back has a small worn spot about the size of a nickel. All interior wood grain is good. Window switch area in front showing slight scratching but are pretty good. Vinyl is good. Spare tire cover has some minor surface scratches but can easily be painted. The tail gate interior handle was off in the pictures. I had it off when the interior panel was removed for the body shop to quote the repair on the outside trim panel. I have the handle and will attach it for the new owner. Dash is in perfect condition. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is not torn but does show some discoloration in the leather due to oil from driver palms. Radio and cassette work well. Spare tire is good. All jack components are present and in working order. Spare tire wheel well is excellent and has been rubber-coated for protection. The facing seats in the way-back are in excellent shape - they were never sat in! ENGINE/TRANSMISSION: The engine starts up quickly and idles well. It runs very well with no knocks or noises - very smooth and quiet. It's a 5.0 liter or 302. It does not leak anywhere and does not use oil. I have Brad Penn green racing hi-performance oil in it now. Maybe overkill, but I take care of my machines. Transmission shifts through the gears smoothly with no hard shifts. It also does not leak and fluid is clean and full. Radiator and hoses are in great shape and keep things cool. I've had no problems. Battery is good and alternator charges like it should. The car has the factory "idiot lights" so I can't monitor things very closely. DRIVING: There are no driveability issues at all. It drives straight with no pull and stops straight and true. Brakes seem to be good. I have not had the wheels off to check them - no need to. It has plenty of power for such a heavy car with no excess exhaust that I've noticed at all. No coolant burning or oil. OTHER: I have cared for it and driven it as a collector car and only put a thousand miles or so on it. I use it weekends to see the scenery of the Seattle area. It has not let me down. It has the original metal service plate in the owners book and all paperwork that came with it. The title does not show mileage, but my mechanic looked it over and thinks the miles showing are correct because of the condition it's in and the way it operates. I have more pictures of the clean underside, etc. I can email them if you want. Ebay limits pictures to 24 in this format. Email with more questions. I'll talk by phone with very interested buyer. Car is approximately 27 miles north of Seattle. SEA-TAC is the closest airport. Car is available for local inspection. Please ask any questions. I do not have a buy-it-now price but am willing to talk. I will also answer any questions by phone if you will send me your number. It's getting really hard to find these stylish and durable cars in this shape. My calcualations are that it would take very few dollars in replacing that header panel if you chose to, fixing that rear trim piece, and professional buffing to start showing this car. You'll be living the 80's all over listening to Madonna cassettes and cruising in the time machine! TERMS AND NOTES: $500 non-refundable deposit via cash or paypal within 48 hours of auction end. Balance to be paid by cash (in-person), wire transfer, or other arrangement within 7 days of auction end. This is an "as-is" sale with no warranty stated or implied. You accept that upon a successful bid. I can help arrange transport if needed. Car is approximately 27 miles north of Seattle. SEA-TAC is the closest airport.
