Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1995 BMW 540i. Although its mileage reads 187k, the transmission was replaced at 120k, and the short block factory engine replacement was at 46k, due to problems with nickasil coating. The car cost $52,000 new, and still retains much of this opulence. It very smooth on the highway. The AC and heat work perfectly, and the car also has heated seats. The tires are in good condition, and the front struts have recently been replaced. Over the last four years, the car has commuted from Richmond to Norfolk without reliability issues. The car's speaker system has no issues, and has a dvd screen to play movies as well. The paint has some minor cosmetic issues, but the car has no rust. The car has the following problems which BMW's of this vintage have: Many of the clips holding the inside molding have broken, and will need to be replaced. The retaining escutcheon for the sunroof switch has broken and will need to be replaced, although the sunroof does work (see picture). Some of the padding on the left passenger side door has come unglued, and will need to be repaired. The coolant level warning light comes on, although the coolant level is normal, which is possibly related to the coolant level sender. The check engine light is on, and when interrogated, the codes are for 1) Crankshaft sensor 2) Oxygen sensor 1 &2. These codes do not affect drivability, but when the car is cold, it will initially cut out for a second under heavy accelerator. When warm, the car will happily cruise on the interstate at 85 mph without any problems. The door retaining strut is not operative on the driver's door. This car is being sold with no reserve, and I anticipate it could be inexpensively repaired by the right owner. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Happy bidding.
