Vehicle Detail
Here for sale is my 1993 MERCEDES BENZ 300SD. I bought this car about a year ago, on EBAY. I had spoken to the seller and he assured me the car was in MINT condition. He lied. So, after taking it immediatelyimmediatleyimmediately and having the fan clutch replaced, I drove it home to Washington state. Immediatley after getting it home (it rode like a cloud) I took it to a shop that specialized in mercedes in my area, and had them check EVERYTHING. They gave me quite the laundry list, and I proceeded to spend THOUSANDS of dollars repairing my MINT (sic) condition mercedes. The first thing they did was change the oil and filter, then the fuel filters, then old and decrepid fuel hoses, and vacuum lines, then do a complete transmission service and flush...then it got ugly. I replaced both lower control arms, and put in new bushings. I also replaced the tie rods, left and right, the drag link, the idler arm, and the damper. I also replaced the shift rod bushings. I then replaced all the bad bulbs in the car, had the engine compartment cleaned so i could see what was leaking, if there was anything leaking. I had them adjust the transmission, so it shifted more like a mercedes should. i also had an alignment done as well, so the car tracked perfectly. This work alone was almost 2700.00 and yes I have the reciepts. The car then drove literally like a new benz. It gets about 27-29 MPG, and frankly it is the most quiet diesel, I have ever owned. Recently, I had a new bosch starter put in as the old one was dying...yet another 500.00 It also needed a new windshield thanks to a small rock. anothe 350.00. I also elected to replace the wiper arms and blades which was another 175.00. I have put almost 30,000 miles on the car, and it has been just wonderful, since I spent the money to put it back into condition that i needed for an every day commuter. It is NOT a perfect car. It needs the rear window regulator replaced as the window is very slow to go up and down. The radio has good and bad days, so it needs a stock replacement, that can be found in a wrecking yard for about 100.00. It STILL gets about 27-29MPG, starts every time and drives better than my wifes jaguar xk8. We recently took it on a 700 mile trip and it was a wonderful drive. We want a two door now, so its time to replace it. My big loss is your gain. My name is Mark, and if you are so inclined you may call me, here in seattle at 213-725-1084. Happy bidding.
