Vehicle Detail

Here is a complete 1923 Model T Ford chassis. This is a perfect start for a speedster, depot hack or whatever other body you want to put on it. It comes with everything you see in the photos and includes a clear title (titled as a "Roadster", but you may be able to 'correct' this to somthing else when you do the transfer). This car is something I was working on about 25 years ago to build a speedster but I moved on to other projects and now I need to sell. I had the engine apart at the time, but I don't remember much about it. I wouldn't consider it a 'rebuilt' engine since younger me didn't know a lot of the finer things a complete rebuild would involve. I do remember adjusting the rod shims for tightness and the engine was a bit stiff when I started getting it ready for sale. I may have put oil dips in and possibly new rings, but I'm not 100% sure so no guarantees. I'm farily certain I installed the later style internal oil line with the wider scoop. Last week, I had the car running on battery and drove it around the yard and worked through the gears. It did not run on mag, but I didn't spend any time troubleshooting that. Everything else worked fine but it was a bit rough (no knocking, though, pistons should be good). Probably if I tinkered with it a bit more it would smooth out. The battery was disconnected with the car running and it didn't stall, so the generator seems to be working. All parts are correct for 1923 with the exception of the transmission. The transmission is the 1926 / 1927 style with the wider brake band (better braking) and the wider pedals (easier to operate). I was really up tight about the correct year parts when I worked on this, so you shouldn't have any surprises with wrong year parts. The steering linkage and wishbone ball joints have accessory ball tighteners. The instrumant panel is mounted directly to the firewall using a TT truck instrument mounting (people like this bracket for speedsters or hacks, but it depends on what you like). All wiring was bought new and the spark plugs are new Champion X's (these things were $25 ea, so there's $100 worth of plugs). The timer is an Anderson (Anco or Ad-Ver-Tizer maybe, one of the many names Anderson timers go by). This is a much better running timer than the stock Ford one. The hardwood body rails you see in the photos (oak, I think) were the start of my speedster body, so are nothing resembling stock, but are mounted to the correct stock body mounting brackets. The headlights are mounted on cut-off fender mounts (I wasn't going to have fenders), so you'll need to replace the brackets if you mount front fenders (these are cheap and easy to find). The tires are pretty cracky, but all hold air. You'll want to replace them for driving, but they're fine for rolling the car around as you work on it. The wheels are unrestored, but solid. They may need some fill to be perfect, but you won't need to re-wood. The fuel line has an inline filter that you can either keep or remove. Can't think of anything else special, but feel free to quiz me about any aspect of the car and I'll try and give you a good answer. The car is located in Petersburg, MI and is available for inspection there. You can E-mail me or call at 734-854-1818 (leave a message if I don't answer). The car is availble for local pick-up only, but I can work with you a little on that if you want to make the shipping arrangements. I've personally had good luck with UShip.com for the lowest shipping rates. Other people that have bought things from me have also used it and been happy with the results. As long as the car is paid for, I can store it indoors if it's going to take you a little bit before you can pick it up, just let me know. Don't hesitate to ask any questions. The car i
