Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a 1965 Dodge Polara 4 Door Hardtop with 86,000 original miles 383 cid with 2 barrel. Book says 330 factory horse power. Factory A/C, Automatic Transmission, PS and PB. This car was purchased in 1965 at Downtown Dodge in Atlanta, Georgia. The owner owned and drove this car in Rome, Georgia until his death in 2008. The car was purchased by a local car dealer from the estate sale, whom I in turn purchased the car from in 2009 for $3999 Since owning the car I have replaced: New Paint New Tires A/C Compressor, Filter and Dryer, Expansion Valve Brake Master Cylinder, Brake Booster, Wheel Cylinders, Brake Shoes NOS Carburator Water Pump Alternator Fuel Pump Exhaust System Universal Joints Transmission Flush, Filter and Fill Battery Valve Cover Gaskets Front Seat Upholstery New Light Bulbs Throughout. Full, Complete Tune Up With All parts and Filters Conceled AM/FM/CD Player Correct Rear Window Defroster Correct Spinner Hub Caps Rear Seat Belts ..., Yea! Well over $4000 invested This is a beautiful, very original, very smooth running car that turns many heads. No, it's not a two door, but it is a hard top. With the windows down, full open front to back! The 383 will pull this car very strong and float down the highway as fast as you want to go. Again, this is a beautiful machine, but not perfect. There are a few items that I have not been able to finish. Not needed, but to be perfect: The car needs new weather stripping around the windows. The right rear window regulator needs to be replaced. There is a small vacuum leak at the HVAC controls. Not enough to affect the engine but enough to affect the dash pots. The rear bumper needs to be re-chromed. This is your opportunity to own a piece of automotive Americana. To give you a hint on the reserve, its about half what I have into it and pretty much how much I originally paid for it. Feel free to call for any additional information at 706-936-8238. If you are the winner, a $500 deposit is required withing 48 hours. I am confident this car will drive anywhere in air conditioned comfort. I am located 1 hour NW of Atlanta, Georgia. Good Luck. On May-22-12 at 05:38:50 PDT, seller added the following information: I am adding this information because I want to be as forth coming as possibleOn a hot day after a long run, the engine take a minute to start. My mechanic seems to think the carb float is sticking..., ? The car will start and run fine afterward. There is no rust on this car anywhere. The underside of the car shows no signs of rust. The inside of the trunk shows some surface rust, but is still very solid.I believe the car needs an alignment. It doesn't pull, but the driver's side tire is showing wear on the inside. The car has power drum brakes. They work fine as designed, but if you have never driven a car with power drum brakes, know that looking at the brake pedal will send you into the dash!Again, please feel free to call for any questions. 706-936-8238
