Today we are happy to offer to you a car out of our dealerships personal collection, A 1987 Toyota Supra Turbo that has only seen a little over 15000 miles in it life. The car is a time capsule and you can see the headlight and everything is still in working order. This car was traded in several years ago and has been part of our owners personal collection ever since. The car is finished in a pearl white and has a deep burgundy interior . Produced in two models as a high-speed cruiser and the turbo model sports car, the 1987 Toyota Supra was part of a long car production run that started in 1979. The 1987 model Supra set the car apart from its sister model, the Celica, as the two designs went separate directions with the drivetrain and features. As part of the early stage three developments of the Supra, the 1987 Supra Turbo still carried the same engine designs from its ancestor, the Toyota 2000GT. Additional features were added and enhanced. The total production of Supras, stock and turbo combined came in at 29,907 in 1987.
The 1987 Toyota Supra Turbo came packaged with an in-line, six-cylinder engine that produced 230 horsepower and 246 foot-pounds of torque
and 5,600 rpm. Two years later a minor modification would allow a bit more
horsepower out of the engine for future models. The turbo engine size utilized
a 2,954 cc displacement and 180.3-cubic inch setup. The engine continued the design first provided in the Toyota 2000GT with four function valves per cylinder and the benefit of having dual overhead cams. The engine did not use a distributor; instead it had coils positioned on top of each cam with activity directed by sensors.
The 1987 Toyota Supra Turbo matched its engine with a five-speed manual R154 transmission for quick response and control. Alternatively, consumers could still opt for a four-speed A340E automatic design if they didn't want to fuss with a manual approach.
Suspension continued and a redesign started in 1986 that allowed two different settings controlled by the driver for dampening road impact. A
third dampening level was programmed into the car but it only kicked in when
the vehicle was braking hard or traveling through turns fast. The Supra also
utilized a wishbone suspension assembly in the front and back axles.
In 1987 Toyota continued the break between the Supra and Celica in
appearance and assembly. The Supra Turbo, like the stock model, came longer and wider in body size than the Celica. Logos were changed out and the Supra and Supra Turbo both started using their own car logo rather than that of the Celica.
